      Abstract (1602) HTML (453) PDF 1.69 M (1427) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:From the perspective of complex networks, this paper studies the evolution of industrial clusters through detailed research on the evolution mechanism and dynamics. That is, an improved industrial cluster network evolution model based on Barabási-Albert scale-free network model is constructed to depict the industrial cluster network evolution characteristics and process on a whole. This study focuses on the effect of nodes deletion dynamic and compensatory rewiring dynamic on industrial cluster network evolution process. The result shows that the improved model is degraded to classic Barabási-Albert scale-free network model if there is no nodes deletion dynamic in the evolution process and compensatory rewiring dynamic can protect the characteristic of scale-free to certain extent if nodes deletion dynamic exists in the process. The life cycle characteristic of industrial cluster network evolution process can be explained with the combination of these two dynamics. Finally, it provides the inside factors and management strategies of the industrial cluster network evolution from the mathematical analysis of the improved model.

Abstract:The theory and practice of logistics, not only lets the enterprises obtain external economic benefits by the supply chain system on the micro level, but also plays a greater role in the economic globalization and regional economic integration process. Based on the above point of view, the paper discusses the bulk logistics and the development of regional economic integration. The development of bulk logistics is a creative contribution to the logistics theory and practice on China’s economy. The bulk logistics between economic center cities based on value chain, is the dialectic relationship with supply chain logistics of enterprises and consumers. This paper argues that the economic operation of bulk logistics is based on the logic of value chain, and bulk logistics has important strategic significance on the development of regional economic integration.

Abstract:Using the data of provincial units of China from 2000-2011, this paper empirically analyzes the impacts of environmental regulations on technological innovation, the impacts of technological innovation induced by environmental regulations on total factor productivity(TFP) and the direct impacts of environmental regulations on total factor productivity. Empirical results show that the environmental regulations have enhanced the level of technological innovation in China, “Porter Hypothesis” establishes in China. Compared with wasted gas and wastes, industrial wasted water abatement investment promotes China’s technological innovation most; the impacts of R&D expenditure induced by non-environmental regulations on total factor productivity(TFP) is greater than that by environmental regulations; the impacts of two-year lag environmental regulations on total factor productivity(TFP) is weaker than that of one-year lag, “Porter Hypothesis” has time constraint in China.

Abstract:The rural migrant workers make great contribution in the urban building, but they are often described as the people who are not happy. What are the influencing factors of their well-being? How to improve their well-being? This study explores the relationship between the income and interactive justice in the working process from the research angle of business management. We find that the managers’ respect will influence the relationship between the income and well-being of the rural migrant workers: more income cannot bring more well-being without managers’ respect, but if they can apperceive the respects from their managers, more income will bring more well-being. Furthermore, when the rural migrant workers obtain more well-being, they will have higher performance and lower turnover rate. Therefore, managers should be trained to respect their employees when they manage the rural migrant workers. Only in this way, they can motivate employees’ well-being and promote the common development of enterprises and employees.

Abstract:This paper empirically researches the relation between the major shareholder control and the effectiveness of executive compensation by using data of private listed companies from 2008 to 2012. This study reveals that the higher the concentration of ownership of the largest shareholder, the greater the effectiveness of executive compensation; the greater the management degree of major shareholder, the smaller the effectiveness of executive compensation. Further we find that the major shareholder control has a significant impact on the effectiveness of executive compensation. The inhibitive effect outweighs the incentive effect. These results provide sufficient evidences to support the major shareholder control explanation for the strength issue of executive compensation effectiveness. The results also can provide references for private enterprises to establish a reasonable executive compensation mechanism.

Abstract:Based on the resource dependence theory, we explore the consequence of board capital on board decision quality as well as board supervision efficiency from the following two perspectives: human capital and social capital. The main results are as follows: Firstly, board human capital, such as average age, average tenure, average education level and constitute heterogeneity of age, tenure and education level, have no significant effect on board decision quality as well as board supervision efficiency. Secondly, Board meetings, one of board internal social capital, has no significant effect on board decision quality or board supervision efficiency. The proportion of internal directors has positive influence on both board decision quality and board supervision efficiency. Further, we test the mediation effect of board decision quality as well as board supervision efficiency and find that the direct effect of internal directors proportion on board decision quality is weakened due to the indirect effect of board supervision efficiency, while the direct effect of internal directors proportion on board supervision efficiency becomes insignificant due to the indirect effect of board decision quality. Lastly, interlocking directorate, one of board external social capital, is beneficial for improving board decision quality, while has no significant effect on board supervision efficiency. The results have important practical significance in improving board decision quality as well as board supervision efficiency.

Abstract:This research empirically tests for the strategic risk-return correlation and the determining factors of strategic risk in China. In this paper, the authors select listed companies in the electric power industry in China as the research sample and adopt a dynamic time series model including aspirations, expectations, industry performance, corporate performance and risk. The empirical findings indicate that aspirations and expectations both have a positive impact on risk taking, while enterprise performance and previous risk have a negative impact on risk taking. It supports Behavioral Theory in the Firm’s thesis about the causal relationship between strategic risk and return, namely low performance-high risk. A firm with low performance will seek greater risk and a firm with high performance will try to keep low risk. Bowman’s paradox also applies to China’s enterprises.

      Abstract (918) HTML (497) PDF 1.08 M (1042) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Chinese existing social sciences academic journals evaluation system basically uses the quantitative evaluation. Although there is some rationality, it will bring problems and disadvantages gradually. Most importantly, it fails to better guide the academic journal to play its due role in promoting academic innovation or leading the academic atmosphere. The basic ideas of constructing Chinese social sciences academic journals evaluation system should combine the qualitative evaluation and quantitative evaluation, which leaded by peer review; transfer from “comment articles based on journals” to “comment journals based on articles”, advocate and implement representative council system; establish a multi-dimensional index comprehensive evaluation system that “ highlight the focus, consider the general”. The article suggests to build a multi-level evaluation system from four aspects, which are academic innovation, academic influence, running ability and study style construciton.

Abstract:CCS technology can massively reduce the CO2 emissions of power plants and during industrial productions through technical phases as capture, transportation and storage. It is an alternative and effective measure for slowing down climate change. However, all the technological phases may have some impact on environment. The CO2 leaked in the transportation and storage phases may, if in a large quantity, cause irreversible ecological disaster. The purpose of studying the environmental tort liability of CCS project is to minimize the impact of CCS on the environment through legal regulation and to slow down climate change with CCS technology with the minimum social cost, which is also the most complicated aspect in the legal questions related to CCS at present. The study found that judges need to balance the public interests brought by CCS slowing down climate change and the personal interests of the party involved damaged by the leaked CO2 under common law system of the United States. In China, if the environment is polluted by the leaked CO2 in the CCS project, there are many uncertainties in tort liability except for the doctrine of liability fixation and the distribution of burden of proof. Once an accident of CO2 leakage happened, it is still hard for the party involved to obtain compensation for damages by tort lawsuits.

Abstract:The core spirit of the deepening of judicial reform comprehensively is to return the original power to the judges and prosecutors. Therefore, the judicial power operating subject will be more decentralized, and the inner supervision will be more weaken. In this situation, it is the right time to strengthen and improve the judicial supervision of all levels of People’s Congress and its standing committee. The judicial supervision of the People’s Congress is to supervise the people’s courts and procuratorates. The principal contents of the supervision is to supervise the power of judicial power, not the judicial acts. The judicial supervision should be typed as legal-supervision, work-supervision and personnel-supervision. In order to effectively improve the supervision quality and efficiency of the people’s congresses at all levels and the Standing Committee, to ensure the constitutional power be implemented correctly and completely, the legal-supervision should be deepen, the work-supervision should be normalized, and the personnel supervision should be substantialized.

Abstract:China has preliminarily established a tax adjustment mechanism against the indirect equity transfer of non-resident enterprises, in the prevention and disposition of possible tax fraud or evades taxes. However, the incompletion of the tax jurisdiction, the ambiguity of identification standard and the institutional defects of tax collection and administration mode have become obstacles to realize the special tax adjustments intentions. Considering the anti-avoidance practice in China and the monolithic deployments of the further reform of the fiscal and taxation system, on condition that taxation-legalism should be insisted, rules and legislation should be improved and perfected to achieve the international tax coordination and justice.

Abstract:Jon Elster studied the fallacy of composition in virtue of modal logic, by defining it as the non-universalizability of predicate. He made it possible to connect the modal fallacy of composition with game theory, based on which he came up with a new theory of social contradictions. Through the combination of social contradictions and social choices of intentional agents, Elster described the mental and practical actions of cognitive agents based on methodological individualism. He put forward counterfinality and suboptimality, and his work pioneers in the research of social science in virtue of logical methods. Following Elster’s analytic approach, we can construct models for the dilemmas analogous to paradoxes in the actions. We hope this research can contribute to reveal the internal mechanisms of social competitions and contradictions, and open up a feasible path to avoid vicious competitions and resolve social contradictions.

Abstract:As a systematic project, the premise of ethical concern for the vulnerable groups in society is to establish appropriate review perspective. A perspective of ethical concern is derived in this article, which is based on the social organs category, described in Economic & Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844, by Karl Marx. And we attempt to combine Amartya Sen’s view on capability with the perspective to make a contemporary theoretical extension. On this basis, we focus on vulnerable groups in the transformation period of China based on the perspective, analyze the causes of the alienation of social organs of vulnerable groups by the combination method, and then propose pointedly several basic care initiatives. Finally, a path of ethical concern whose value point is to effectively extend the social organs of vulnerable groups is described.
