Abstract:We discussed the connection and intersection between humanism and ecological architecture in a view of environmental psychology and analyzed the final purpose of ecological architecture intensively. According to the idea of people oriented, we explored arcology based on humanism. From aspects of anthropology, psychology, and sociology, we thought that satisfying persons’ psychological and practical needs mostly and reasonably should be a development direction of ecological architecture. We analyzed humanistic needs of ecological architecture, which can provide a reference for the development of ecological architecture.
Abstract:Characteristics of distribution and types of quadrangle dwellings which are traditional dwelling forms in Taiyuan were introduced. Quadrangle features of different types were analyzed from an aspect of social class, which provided a reference for relevant study on residence.

Abstract:Status and drawbacks of current civil engineering practice mode were analyzed. The training mode was reformed and innovated according to education rules and inherent requirements of students’ creative and practical abilities. Engineering learning alternating cooperation training mode was applied to meet the enterprise requirements for highly skilled talents using teaching resources and business environment in enterprise. Engineering learning alternating cooperation training mode greatly enhanced students’ independent learning skills, practical ability, team spirit, and the spirit of innovation.

Abstract:To train students’ engineering consciousness and practice ability, a team of double qualified teachers was built and four training platforms for the project, the teaching base, students’ post practice, and technological design contests were built. Amalgamation of the first class and the second class, the inside and outside teaching resource, and ideological and political work and teaching work were basically actualized. Years of practice in 4 undergraduate specialties of School of Architectural Engineering, Shandong University of Technology, proved that students’ abilities, the satisfaction of employers, quality of employment, and the employment rate increased.
Abstract:The specialty construction is the core of connotation construction in colleges and universities, which has a profound impact on reform and development of colleges and universities. How to guide the development of colleges and universities using the external quality assurance so as to adapt to employment, economic and social needs, and how to highlight the specialty, professional quality of personnel training, we should not only focus on the undergraduate teaching quality monitoring system in the college, but also strengthen then external supervision and guidance. We researched on specialty construction in colleges and universities of Shaanxi Province, proposed how to construct quality guarantee system for the specialty construction in colleges and universities, and formed a quality guarantee system at the provincial level for the whole process of new degree declaration, degree granting, specialty evaluation and specialty authentication. Empirical research on the quality guarantee system was also carried out.
Abstract:Combined with the current situation and confusion of newly built universities and colleges, we analyzed on the position in the education system, school strength, professional level, students’ potential, and students’ employment of newly built universities and colleges. Multi type talent training targets and“1+M+N” mode of talent training were proposed. The connotation, implementation and countermeasures of “1+M+N” mode of talent training were also analyzed.

Abstract:High school students in underdeveloped regions face more pressure of entering universities and colleges than those in other regions. The quality education is always neglected in the high school of China, which leads to a phenomenon that freshmen often can not adapt to the study circumstance in universities and even perform abnormally. According to the situation, the necessity of strengthening quality education of freshmen coming from underdeveloped areas was presented and specific measures were proposed.

Abstract:The setting of engineering education should indicate that “Ethics, Integrity, Professionalism Conceiving, Designing, Implementing, and Operating (EIP CDIO)” are the abilities of engineers in their service to enterprises and the society. Being one of four main courses from ability quality knowledge integration teaching system, the engineering system design course for civil engineering majors was built up in Shantou University. To effectively train engineers, the learning contents were detailed referred to the syllabus that the teaching procedure was designed as workable “actions”. The results show that the project practice is the key point to promote students’ abilities in their service to the engineering society system.
Abstract:The necessity of civil engineering curriculum reform was analyzed and problems of the existing curriculum system were proposed. Based on the research on the demand of the civil engineering training mode characterized by traffic, some issues on constructing civil engineering division group characterized by traffic were investigated.

Abstract:According to the key course construction goal of Lanzhou Jiaotong University and based on the main content of key courses, we analyzed how to construct key courses for engineering economics and proposed concrete measures to implement the construction from several aspects which are talent training goals, course construction ideas and other measures need to be improved during the construction process. The result shows that the teaching reform improved teaching quality and enhanced students’ competitiveness.
Abstract:Civil engineering majors in private colleges are weak in theories and their study motivation is not strong. According to the situation, a picturesque courseware was designed. The new courseware and the teaching mode of inside and outside class interaction were used to enhance students’ interest in study and broaden their expertise of civil engineering.
Abstract:With the expansion of infrastructural facility construction in China, more and more civil engineering talents are needed and higher quality of civil engineering talent is required. Soil mechanics is an important specialized fundamental course of the civil engineering. It has remarkable characteristics in the curriculum content, research methods, and the knowledge system. Based on our teaching experience, we discussed on characteristics of civil engineering and soil mechanics and researched on classroom teaching and practice, teaching methods, and the teaching reform of soil mechanics.
Abstract:The heat transfer course is widely used, hard to study and important. Based on the characteristics, efficient ways for improving classroom teaching quality of heat transfer course were elaborated from four aspects, including optimizing the teaching content, adopting teaching means reasonably, improving classroom interaction, and assigning schoolwork thoughtfully. The relationship of the four ways and their effect on improving classroom teaching quality were pointed out.

Abstract:Structural mechanics is one of the most important professional basis courses. Its teaching effect is strongly relevant to the student education quality of civil engineering. In the paper, some problems in the teaching process of structural mechanics are analyzed. The five basic principles and four ancillary strategies of “first principles of instruction”, and their reference significance to the course are detailedly explained. Then the teaching process of structural mechanics is reconstruction and a new teaching mode is established with ‘one center, four phases, and eight supports’ for structural mechanics. Teaching practice results show that the reconstructed teaching process perform well and its theoretical method and reconstruction mode can also provide a reference for the teaching reform and innovation of other courses of civil engineering.
Abstract:Using the summative assessment in the teaching has some shortcomings, including the fuzzy testing goal, the monotonous testing content, the loose test process and the cheating in the exam. The importance of formative assessment was analyzed. It is conducive to the comprehensive assessment of students’ abilities and is useful to cultivate students’ innovative consciousness and practical ability. The formative assessment can improve the teaching effect. According to different curriculum characters, the evaluation system of formative assessment was proposed in the paper. For the theory course, the evaluation system includes classroom questions, discussions, notes, working papers, attendance and examination. For the course including practice content, the evaluation system should also include the practice part.

Abstract:In the course of design principles of foundation engineering, students are often confused by the concept of punching and shearing of independent foundations under columns. To clarify this problem, we analyzed the failure mechanism, forms of failure surface and failure characteristics. The provisions of relevant codes were compared together. Two specific examples were also introduced to clarify conceptions of punching and shearing. The analysis in this paper will be helpful to students to understand some basic concepts in the teaching process.
Abstract:Based on the situation of engineering management specialty, reform of practice education of civil engineering technology curriculum was studied primarily. Student employment directions and the necessity of reform were analyzed, primary reform contents and measures were put forward, and preliminary effect of corresponding reform was also introduced. The research will provide a reference for engineering management specialty in technology curriculum setting and teaching program perfecting, which is helpful to improve students’ employment competitiveness and professional adaptability.
Abstract:Professional courses play a very important role in students’ cultivation of engineering specialties. Most colleges pay a great attention to the fundamental courses, so the quality of the courses is usually guaranteed. However, professional courses sometimes do not receive as much attention as fundamental courses do, and the quality is often out of control. We pointed out that the purpose of professional courses was to guide students to use their knowledge to analyze and figure out problems in the professional field rather than imparting knowledge. The relationship between lecturing and textbooks was analyzed in this paper. And the design of class discussion, exercises, and examination were discussed as well.

Abstract:CDIO education is a new education mode originated from abroad. In the mode, much attention is paid to train students systematically and enhance their abilities of engineering and application. Guided by the education idea, we constructed a three dimensional teaching mode for concrete structure serial courses setting ability training as the main goal, stereoscopic teaching resource as the support, varied teaching methods as means, the multi level practical teaching as ways, and varied examine types as a guarantee. The practice results show that students’ comprehensive qualities and creative abilities have been enhanced.

Abstract:Under the circumstance of great teaching hour reduction, we researched and reformed on characteristics of mechanics of materials course. The integration of multimedia and traditional teaching modes was adopted and heurism and discussion were used reasonably in the teaching process. Abstract:Based on the education, engineering and teaching practice, we compared teaching time and contents of foundation engineering course in Chinese and American universities. Moreover, Chinese teaching style and American teaching style were studied and compared generally and the teaching practice adopting American teaching styles with Chinese characteristics in Tianjin Institute of Urban Construction was introduced. We pointed out that American education may be misunderstood by Chinese teachers. We thought that encouraging students to develop their own ideas about content issues and cultivating students with pouring styles was not in conflict. Homework, reference reading, and strict training were very important to cultivate students’ comprehensive quality.
Abstract:Large scale engineering idea is a philosophy which integrates scientific, technical, and practical properties of engineering. It emphasizes on engineering activities which is systematic, comprehensive, integrated and sustainable. Firstly, based on the large scale engineering idea, two problems of curriculum arrangements of Chinese engineering management specialty were analyzed, which were ignoring the ability of engineering practice and arranging teaching time unbalancedly. Then suggestions of engineering management course reform were presented.
Abstract:In the system of two teachers in one professional course, two teachers teach one undergraduate course. Subject to certain principles and to take appropriate measures, the system has a few advantages. The main advantage is that there is a certain degree of flexibility in teaching arrangement among teachers without affecting the teaching order and effect. The time conflict can be avoided during teachers’ activities of teaching, teacher training, academic exchanges, scientific research and engineering practice.

Abstract:To meet the needs of high speed development of current economic society, the practice teaching of application oriented colleges must be constructed rationally to realize the goal of vocational ability training. According to the theme, the reform measures for the practice teaching of civil engineering specialty in application oriented colleges were researched and discussed. Based on the analysis of current situation and existing problems of practice teaching, a new practice teaching mode of “a thought, three main lines, and four levels” was constructed according to characteristics of civil engineering. The new practice teaching mode was operated in the practical teaching process. The result shows that by using the new practice teaching mode, undergraduates’ professional consciousness became strong and their vocational abilities were recognized by employing units.
Abstract:Based on the goal of training architecture talents under the licensed system of registered architects, a practical teaching system constructed by three aspects and two focuses was analyzed taking the architecture specialty in Suzhou University of Science and Technology as an example. Excellent teaching staff and practical teaching base construction were suggested to be two important guarantees to improve teaching quality in architectural disciplines.

Abstract:The undergraduate structural design competition has great significance to cultivate innovation talents of civil engineering. The paper elaborates on the requirement to students’ abilities based on the structural design competition. It summarizes basic principles and methods in the competition and gives a multitude of illustrations to show how the innovative spirit and practical abilities play important roles in the competition. Additionally, several suggestions are proposed to cultivate students’ innovation and practice abilities in an aspect of the competition reality.

Abstract:In the traditional experiment teaching of civil engineering, students’ practical ability can not be comprehensively cultivated due to their rareness of participating activity. As a result, undergraduates’ innovation spirit is restricted. Based on features of different professional laboratories in Faculty of Infrastructure Engineering, Dalian University of Technology, the opening modes for undergraduates of each grade were proposed aiming to cultivate their innovation abilities. Important problems for opening the professional laboratory were firstly addressed as follows: reforming the management system, the cultivation objective, and assessment method of undergraduates. Entering laboratories, joining in research programs, and reforming the thesis instruction mode were the main modes of opening laboratory to undergraduates.

Abstract:Shanghai fine level course soil mechanics is served as the core course for course group of rock and soil mechanics, which leads to teaching reform in the course group of rock and soil mechanics. Related research and practice have been conducted in teaching methods, teaching means, teaching forms and training modes for students. We established a new practical teaching mode for the course group of rock and soil mechanics. Presently, a multi type theoretical teaching mode has been established, a practical teaching system has been formed, and teams for outstanding students have been cultivated.

Abstract:We reformed the civil engineering materials course teaching by changing the experimental teaching means. Basal experiments and exoteric experiments were opened at the same time. We led students join in the scientific research to know the development of the subject, chose related subjects to guide students declaring college innovation funds, and established innovation teams to attend “The Challenge Cup” competition. We carried out a three step innovative talent training mode including the basic ability training, application ability training and innovation ability training.
Abstract:Case teaching is based on practical problems, which is an effective teaching method. We researched on how to introduce case teaching in mechanics courses in order to cultivate engineering students’ engineering consciousness and creative thinking and improve their abilities of solving practical problems. Abstract:The concept of digital urban planning and digital urban planning technology was discussed, respectively, major digital urban planning technical platforms and integrated approaches were proposed, different techniques used in teaching of different stages of the urban master planning were analyzed, and finally existing problems of digital urban planning in urban planning teaching were presented. Abstract:Computer application in the structural mechanics course is now widespread. The development of such application will be in a dominant position in the reform of teaching method of the civil engineering specialty. In addition, the computer aided instruction is a necessary measure in the future. Therefore, a program of OOSA for the teaching is introduced and the object oriented design process of program development is proposed.
Abstract:Student party building in 985 universities plays an important role in the national university student party building, which is in a special status and plays as an important model role. In the new historical period of the first year of the “twelfth five year plan”, the development of 985 universities will face more opportunities and challenges and their student party building will face a new situation. We should put the student party building in the whole political background of achieving the goal determined in the fifth plenary session of the 17th National Congress, exam it under new challenges brought by profound changes in the world, and research it according to inherent requirements of the high level university construction. Abstract:The administration system in universities plays an important role in the modification of the modern institute system. We discussed the micro level of reformation, namely the reformation on the system of universities. By considering current affairs, we mainly studied the inner administration of universities and the reformation of human resources, especially the building of the management team. By using the theory of management, combining with the development program about the education and talent, especially the newest requirement about the high education, we did a case study on Chongqing University and the University of Maryland and compared the administration system in universities of China and the Unite States. We also paid attention to the inner management and the building of the management team.
