Abstract:Based on the discussion of the origin of architectural design thinking, we presented and analyzed the concept of students’ subconsciousness in architectural design. We advocated an idea that teachers should guide students’ subconscious design thinking in the teaching process. Finally, we proposed ways and means to properly guide lower grade students’ subconsciousness in architectural design.

Abstract:Under the circumstance of economic globalization and higher education internationalization, the abroad consumption of higher education occupies the most market shares in international education service trade. Particularly, overseas student education is a main form in the abroad consumption of higher education. Under the background mentioned above, overseas student education has been rapidly progressing in Zhejiang Province. At the same time, overseas student education of Zhejiang Province will be faced with new difficulties and development opportunities which come from the external environment and internal factors in the future. Based on a case study of overseas student education of Zhejiang Province, we analyzed countermeasures to overcome difficulties and seize opportunities. We aimed to find out strategies with the help of all development opportunities and favorable conditions to make great progress and further the development of overseas student education.

Abstract:To realize the combination of theoretical and practical education, China established some policies to support practical teaching, ensuring teaching effect and teaching quality of higher education. Practice base construction outside universities and colleges is meaningful to the practical teaching. We analyzed problems in constructing practice base and suggested that education authorities should take some measures to support the practical teaching based on the situation of enterprises and colleges respectively. These measures can realize the combination of theoretical and practical education and accelerate the improvement of higher education quality.

Abstract:According to characteristics of young college teachers, we introduced the concrete contents of training system construction of teaching ability for young teachers from seven respects, which were the connotation of teachers’ moral, responsibility and teaching attitude, teaching skills, teaching and scientific research, training platform, system construction, and environment atmosphere. We also put forward some methods to effectively improve the teaching ability of young college teachers.

Abstract:Based on the environment and internal factors affecting the development of department of civil engineering in Dongguan University of Technology, we analyzed the influence of region and administrative relation on characteristics to run a school and proposed the influence of talent training, specialty/subject construction, course system, teacher quality, scientific research, experimental base construction, and system administration on the sustainable development of specialty. The practice shows that only prompting each work in department of civil engineering based on development strategies and reality can realize the sustainable development of college guiding principles and the department of civil engineering.

Abstract:Construction of real estate management specialty in China is constantly improving with the development of the real estate industry. The exploration on talent training mode of real estate management specialty is important for the development of the subject. Based on the analysis between real estate management and others specialties, we presented a talent training goal of “three dimensions”, established a curriculum guide mode of “society education–society”, and proposed a training mode for technology based management talents.

Abstract:According to the previous studies of professional education and teaching practice for freshmen, based on numerous detailed questionnaire investigation data, the social understanding, cognition, and shortages of the original major renamed by “building environment and service engineering” as a new major were discussed. The necessity, appropriate, and prospective of the new professional secondly renamed by “building environment and energy application” were obtained. More attentions should be paid on the source of students to cope with energy and environment challenges and to train the registered service engineers.

Abstract:To adapt to requirements of nuclear development and construction in China, we analyzed undergraduate education of nuclear industry building of civil engineering specialty in Harbin Engineering University. We discussed and constructed the training mode of nuclear industry building of civil engineering specialty from three aspects including cultural literacy, knowledge structure, and training model based on the training system of Harbin Engineering University.

Abstract:Multiplex spaces of developing cities need urban planning majors who have general abilities of organizing society, economy and ecology. At the same time, they should acutely catch the regional culture and characteristics of the city to establish the perceptual thinking. Training perceptual thinking is a way to cultivate professional urban planning majors. To enhance students’ perceptual thinking and comprehensive abilities, advanced teaching ideas and appropriate teaching methods are needed in the perceptual thinking training to improve the teaching quality and efficiency.

Abstract:Served as a brand new academic innovation platform, college tutor student research teams can effectively overcome deficiencies of the traditional tutorial system and greatly impel the cultivation of high level scientific researchers. Many teams are short of favorable growing environment and construction mode, which leads to irregularity of team size and innovation. In consideration of the problems, we proposed that tutor student research teams enhance institutional management and team culture construction, aiming at increasing cohesion and innovation level, and meanwhile colleges are responsible for further specifying team management system and creating better academic environment. With its working mechanism improving, college tutor student research teams will be the core force of scientific innovation.

Abstract:To achieve profession qualification license for being registered engineer, some important issues of engineering management education were studied, which mainly involved the talent training goal, core curriculum system optimization, and discipline construction. Study shows that, to meet requirements of engineering management practice and qualification licensing for registered engineer, engineering management professional education needs to be transformed from mode of pure disciplines theory education to practice education model oriented engineering project. Various forms of practice teaching based on professional theories and core curriculum construction need to be developed. More importantly, training excellent engineers of engineering management field should become the talent training goal of engineering management specialty.

Abstract:The undergraduate course education of interior design specialty should cultivate students’ innovative ability. Innovative talent training should have an appropriate training way and a clear training goal. Architecture and interior space are closely linked, so elementary courses of architecture are important in innovative talent training of interior design specialty. Finally, the paper puts forward suggestions for the teaching of the courses.

Abstract:Nowadays, it is hard for graduate students to find a well pleasing job. Therefore, how to enhance students’ career competitiveness is an important work in the colleges and universities. We presented main problems in graduate students’ practical work, analyzed career competitiveness of engineering cost specialty, established a model of five core capabilities, and proposed specific measures to realize the training of five core capabilities based on the reality of our university.

Abstract:We analyzed the history and enrollment situation of building electrical and intelligent undergraduate professional in China and presented concise cultivation standards and knowledge system of building electrical and intelligent talent training. Enrollment, cultivation and employment demand, and industry development were analyzed based on the graduate employment unit, development trend and industry characteristics. Countermeasures for development of building electrical and intelligent specialty were also proposed.

Abstract:Highway surveying and design is an essential course of civil engineering specialty in China as well as in the U.S.A. The paper presents results of a study on the teaching methods utilized in two universities of the two countries. Differences in the teaching methods are identified through course designs and teaching practices. The weights of homework assignments, quizzes, exams, designing labs, and field activities are compared quantitatively. The results show that, with a well designed course and well organized teaching practice, the effectiveness of teaching can be greatly enhanced.

Abstract:For developing a novel talent cultivation mode under the framework of a plan for educating and training outstanding engineers (PETOE), the teaching reform on bridge construction course was carried out. The bridge construction course in the major of civil engineering was selected as a platform of the teaching reform and a novel teaching mode was proposed which mainly aimed at training students’ practice ability and innovation ability. The situation and problems of the conventional teaching mode were discussed. Objective and requirement of the teaching process, teaching contents, teaching process, and assessment methods of bridge construction course were also studied.

Abstract:Facing the large pressure of a serious of city problems, integrating environmental psychology achievements with certain architecture design to arouse students’ social consciousness is the target of teaching reform for the forth grade students majored in architecture in Yantai University. Based on analysis of the first prize of Competition on Rural Dwelling Project Designs for Shandong Province in 2008, we elaborated an integrated teaching model of architecture design and environmental psychology and explored a combined guidance teaching model with teachers of different majors.

Abstract:To adapt to requirements of the development of architectural teaching, we adjusted the training plan of architecture in our school based on the advanced experience in other colleges and universities. Teaching methods and content of architecture design basis were also reformed. The relationship of the basic course, specialized basic courses, and professional courses was straightened out. In the architecture design basis teaching, we changed the traditional teaching methods of training architectural forms of expression and drawing to practical ability training focusing on architectural design, construction and fabrication, which had achieved some good results.

Abstract:We summarized the inquiry teaching experience before and presented a new teaching mode based on a three phase teaching method. The first phase was the natural teaching phase, in which teachers proposed simple group projects to training students’ study interests. The second phase was the unnatural teaching phase. In this phase, teachers increased the difficulty of group projects to enhance students’ theories. Teachers also guided students to solve problems in the projects to broaden students’ knowledge. The third phase is scientific natural phase. Students’ learning initiative and innovative ability were promoted. They can complete projects by themselves. The results show that the three phase teaching method can broaden students’ knowledge, enhance students’ learning initiative and abilities of self study, innovation, communication and teamwork, and promote students’ engineering quality.

Abstract:The sand table of project management provides a simulated practice tool for the teaching. The sand table of project management and the process of teaching through sand table were introduced and the effect of teaching was analyzed. Some suggestions were also proposed to promote the project management teaching by sand table.

Abstract:Civil engineering construction technology is a very practical professional course. Combing theoretical teaching with practical teaching is important to train students’ application abilities. Based on the current situation and teaching practice of civil engineering construction course teaching, we proposed suggestions on teaching methods, teaching modes and teaching means. We also introduced the production practice, technical seminars of specific engineering topics, and video and pictures of cases into classroom teaching, which stimulated students’ interest in learning, improved the teaching quality, and provided a reference for innovative teaching programs.

Abstract:Engineering geology is a practical course of mechanical power and water conservancy specialties. It comes from engineering practice and eventually returns to the engineering practice. We concluded our classroom teaching and field practice teaching experience in recent years and discussed teaching methods inside and outside the classroom.

Abstract:With the widely application of CFD in the field of HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), it is helpful to strengthen the competing capacities and improve the research capabilities of undergraduate students majored in building environment and facility engineering if they have some CFD knowledge. However, how to teach CFD to the undergraduate students is not very clear because of their limited knowledge. Based on our teaching practice, we discussed on the selection of CFD software for the teaching use, teaching contents and teaching methods, and assessment methods of CFD teaching.

Abstract:Threaded by constructive education theory, combined with characteristics and teaching goals of CAT of MTI (master of translation and interpreting), the paper explores the application of constructive education theory in the teaching procedure of the CAT course to develop the student centered teaching pattern, to help them learn how to take part in and manage translation projects, to strengthen teacher learner interaction to procure efficiency in learning, and to enhance students’ translating abilities through abundant practice with the help of translation software and bilingual language databanks.

Abstract:According to the requirement of “Engineering Education and Training Programs of Excellent Engineer”, teaching reform for structural strengthening course was practiced. The content and teaching method for the course were adjusted. Teaching mode of “one practice base, the integration of two teaching methods, three platforms, and the cultivation of four skills (1234)” was presented and detailed ideas and implementing measures of the teaching mode were discussed. Practice indicates that positive effects of using the teaching mode were achieved during the teaching process of training excellent engineer for civil engineering specialty.

Abstract:Based on the teaching practice of structural mechanics, we discussed on the application of inductive and comparative methods in structural mechanics teaching from four aspects, which were comparison of the course and other courses, content conclusion of a chapter, conclusion and comparison of different chapters, and conclusion of research contents. We also used corresponding typical examples to elaborate the inductive and comparative methods in structural mechanics teaching.

Abstract:Based on social needs of architecture design majors in polytechnic colleges and aimed to develop students’ practical skills, the paper presents the way to improve the teaching results and strengthen students’ professional competition by using advanced teaching ideas and methods. The multi aspect teaching mode is also established in architectural design teaching.

Abstract:Civil engineering construction course has the characteristics of large extent, practice and strong comprehensiveness, playing a significant role in developing students’ ability to analyze, solve problems independently and practice. To address current problems that the course confronts with in the universities and improve the teaching quality effectively, the production practice of civil engineering and theoretical teaching should be combined and teaching methods and assessment criteria should be reformed.

Abstract:Practical teaching of steel structure is an important extension of steel structure design course. Course design is the main form of practical teaching. Based on steel roof course design, we summarized problems during structure selection and layout, structure calculation, and construction drawing. The overall design idea and engineering concept were stressed, which can lay a good foundation to develop students’ design capacity and practical ability.

Abstract:Characteristics of students of military professional education were in a wide range. To construct an effective teaching mode of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) course for military professional, we presented various teaching methods including teaching directly, analyzing, classroom discussion, cooperative learning, and PBL. We also established an evaluation system to improve the effectiveness of classroom teaching.

Abstract:College teaching is a basic approach to cultivate innovative talents. Based on the analysis of reasons of restricting scientific and technological innovation activities of college students, we discussed training ways of college students’ scientific and technological innovation ability, including creating innovative education atmosphere, reforming curriculum systems, reforming teaching methods and contents, and improving innovation capacity training mechanisms.

Abstract:Selection of topics is the preliminary work for graduation design. Based on the investigation and summary of topics of the graduation design in water supply and drainage engineering specialty, problems in the selected topics at present were analyzed and concrete suggestions were put forward from four aspects, which were strengthening combination of graduation design and engineering practice, combining the topic selection with science and technology, amount of work in the selection of topics, and proportion of graduation paper in topic selection.

Abstract:Graduation design (paper) is the most important practical teaching link for civil engineering majors in the undergraduate education stage. Its teaching quality directly reflects the education quality of a university. Based on the practice, we analyzed key problems existing in the graduation design (paper) teaching of the civil engineering specialty among ordinary institutions of higher education, presented the goal of teaching reform, and finally proposed some teaching reform methods and suggestions.

Abstract:Graduation design plays an important role in cultivating practical ability, innovation ability, and engineer quality of engineering undergraduates. At present, there is a decreasing trend in the graduation design quality of engineering students. Based on the practical work and full investigation, the main problems in the graduation design were analyzed. New measures for deepening the graduation design teaching reform were listed including starting graduation design earlier, quality monitoring of subject choosing, strengthening ability cultivation and process management, and strict grade assessing administration. The detailed analysis shows that these innovative teaching modes were feasible, which can make students systematically and comprehensively trained, increase students’ capability of analyzing and addressing practical engineering problems, and enhance the quality of graduation design effectively.

Abstract:The recognition of relation between specialty features of urban planning and graduation design were given, the construction of graduation design operation system in urban planning from a view of specialty features were discussed, and some constructive suggestions in the important component parts such as graduation practice, subject selection, design stages, the respondent, assessment methods, and quality control, were also given to improve the graduate design quality of urban planning specialty.

Abstract:The National Structure Design Competition for College Students, held up one time a year, is one of the most influential competitions among college students. It has great impacts on the formation of students’ innovation awareness, practical capacity, and flexibility on linking cross discipline. We elaborated on the weakness and several limits of the structure design competition by analyzing the subject and requirement of all the past contests. Additionally, suggestions were presented for future competitions.

Abstract:The seismic analysis and design of building structure is an important professional course of civil engineering specialty. To increase students’ abilities on analyzing and designing of building structures, we proposed a module teaching method to improve teaching effect and teaching quality. We also presented some suggestions for multimedia courseware construction based on characteristics of the course.

Abstract:Problems of practical teaching of water and wastewater engineering specialty were summarized in the paper and reasons and consequences of the problems were analyzed. Combined with practical teaching innovation in Shandong Jianzhu University, a series of teaching reform was achieved in the practical teaching. The result shows that some problems were solved.

Abstract:A great leap in intercultural communication research and teaching has been achieved in recent years. However, some problems have been observed, such as overly theoretically oriented teaching, lacking insights from different disciplines, and lacking target oriented communication research. We analyzed the problems and proposed that the research and teaching of intercultural communication should be based more on real communication practice.

Abstract:The paper analyzes causes of college probationers, studies their psychological problems, and finally puts forward some approaches of transforming college probationers by education and administration. The approaches include five aspects, which are enhancing ideological education, strengthening psychological counseling, strengthening communication, helping students effectively, and exchanging ideas with parents closely. Reinforcing and improving our education and administration are very important to transform college probationers’ fate, to make their family happy, and to keep security and stability of our universities.
