Abstract:Analyzed the current situation of engineering specialty in research universities, the teaching mode of geological engineering specialty in Lanzhou University was analyzed and discussed. Through investigation and research, some effective measures which are useful for the training of innovative and research talents have been proposed: increasing the proportion of mathematics and mechanics courses in curriculum system of engineering majors, expanding students’ international perspective through the use of bilingual teaching mode, promoting the continuing reform of the teaching in some areas, such as educational ideas, teaching system, teaching content, teaching methods, teaching materials and construction, practice teaching. It hopes that the talents have both creative and practical ability.

Abstract:The specialty of architecture is a leading civil engineering specialty and is also an important major which will impact on the work of urban and rural construction. With the fast development of China’s urbanization and urban-rural integration, many universities and colleges have started to run the specialty of architecture; however, since it involves many areas such as engineering, humanity and art, there are great difficulties in constructing and developing this specialty. Based on the development of the specialty of architecture in Huangshan University, the thesis intends to summarize the problems and experience in the process of constructing this specialty, hoping to provide some references for its construction and development in some other universities and colleges as well as to offer help for further development of the specialty.

Abstract:In recent years, the disciplines of urban & rural planning and human geography experienced several adjustments, which are in consistent with the trends of enhancing the theoretical and comprehensive study in the discipline of urban & rural planning and strengthening the professional skills in the discipline of human geography. These adjustments bring good opportunities to the development of new majors by clarifying the coverage of majors, the interdisciplinary relationships and the training direction. Meanwhile, the development of new majors face several challenges, for example, the lack of training program, the limited school hour and the lack of social identity. In this case, we need to seize these opportunities brought by the reform. We should give full play to the traditional superiority of geography in the researches of basic theory and empirical analysis. And in the process of organizing teaching activities, the new urban and rural planner may grow up by combining the advantage of the geographic information technology.

Abstract:The research purpose of this paper is on talent training for ocean-related or applied ordinary undergraduate. The innovation is put forward around practice base construction and management in the paper, such as the change of practice teaching centre, opportunity for regional economy and construction of information management and so on. The election of outside class practice base is taken the form of regular and dynamic pattern, and the correspondent one is set up according to the enrollment size and student needs, and the latter is much superior to the former. The routine outside class practice base often coexists with marine characteristics. The construction of practice training base in college should be emphasized the training of creativity and engineering maneuverability backed up with making full use of laboratory equipment. The construction and maintenance of practice training base should be adopted by information means with evaluation system.

Abstract:It is significance to explore the quality status and characteristics of the national defense students based on the competency of grassroots officers. 240 grassroots officers and 232 national defense students are tested by the questionnaire of the competency of grassroots officers in two stages, The results shows: the competency of grassroots officers is evaluated in terms of the following six aspects: loyal and adaptation, impact characteristics, sense of responsibility, cognitive characteristics, management characteristics, democracy service. Outstanding grassroots officers are different from national defense students on the awareness of the quality of grassroots officers. This research further exams the disparities and features of different variables in all dimensions, and proposes measures for improving the quality of national defense students.

Abstract:In geotechnical engineering, rock mass hydraulic is a new comprehensive interdisciplinary with great importance for post-graduate students. During the teaching of this course, several major problems appear. For students, the problems are lack of study interest and weak in the fundamental professional knowledge. On the other hand, the problems such as poor laboratory condition, insufficient in practical teaching link and the limit of academic level and professional accomplishment of teachers also exist. Based on the above issues, combined with the personal teaching experience, this paper discusses general reform ideas for the rock mass hydraulics in geotechnical engineering, and proposes a creative teaching approach for this course.

Abstract:In order to inspire the learning interest of students for ‘engineering mechanics’ course, life background examples method has been proposed and discussed in this paper to improve the teaching effect. In this method, familiar phenomena in daily life are utilized to explain the stuffy concepts. Knowledge can be delivered easily and expressly. Usable examples and their corresponding concepts in this course are introduced detailedly. It is proved by actual practice that life background examples method can activize the feedback of students effectively. Students are willing to draw inferences about other cases from one instance. Therefore, the interaction of idea and talk in teaching can be driven well and truly. The concepts can be understood better. Then the realization of training goal can be promoted evidently by employing this new method.

Abstract:Rock mechanics is the fundamental theoretical knowledge for civil engineering, geological engineering and other related disciplines, also an important major course for undergraduate. Through long-term practical experience of teaching and scientific research for rock mechanics, three significant concepts for undergraduate teaching are summarized: Highlight the complexity of rock mass, emphasis on practicality of rock mechanics theory, expound the prospective of rock mechanics development. Abstract:In order to implement training requirements of civil engineering excellent program and to improve students’ practice and innovation?abilities of steel structure, steel structure design course need to conduct a comprehensive reform. This paper introduces the course reform content about teaching content, teaching method, practice exercise and assessment method and practical measures in detail. Reform experience shows that engineering applied course should strengthen the concept and introduce logical relationship. The 3D simulation model and case teaching method is helpful for students to master the component composition principle and logical relationship. Abstract:The rail transit bridge curriculum was taken as the platform during three-year teaching experience to explore four heuristic teaching modes: narrating development histories of theories, questioning current terms of specifications, summing up of lessons from engineering practices and introducing innovation applications. These proposed teaching modes can make up for the problem of insufficiency devotion on teaching in research universities. However, these teaching modes require the teachers should have much higher research level and more powerful ability to control the classroom. Abstract:The concrete structural design principle is one of the most important courses for civil engineering. It has several characteristics such as large amount of information, comprehensive, lay equal stress on theory and practice. All of the factors make it very difficult for both teaching and learning. In this paper, the characteristics of concrete structure design principle course were analyzed; then, the flow chart method was introduced on the basis of introducing the flowchart symbol and the basic structure. Then, the feasibility of using flow chart method to display the key content of concrete structural design principle was proofed. Finally, take design of torsion-shear-bending member as an example, it proofs that using flow chart method in teaching important and difficult points of concrete structure design principle can produced a better effect.

Abstract:The teaching reform of civil engineering materials experimental in China Three Gorges University was analyzed in this paper. The experimental teaching programs were classified into two levels, the basic experiment and the innovative experiment. The hierarchical teaching mode of civil engineering materials experimentation was introduced from three aspects, the hierarchy of teaching programs, the organization and implementation of experimental teaching and the teaching methods. Moreover, the safeguard measures for long-acting mechanism of this teaching model were put forward, which involved the experiment project selecting, financial supporting, the laboratory management, the process management and the experiment teaching team construction.

Abstract:Based on the new specifications of highway asphalt pavement and books of “subgrade and pavement engineering” published recently, the teaching content of asphalt pavement structural design based on hand computation is compiled, the detailed content includes the known data used in asphalt pavement structural design, computational formula, detailed design step, and design results. This design method is also complied on the basis of the teaching program of this course, our university real teaching condition, and the teaching content demand of asphalt pavement structural design. Otherwise, the design process based on the hand computation is given in example form. This method gives the convenience to students during studying the theory of asphalt pavement structural design, design method, computational formula, design result, and so on.

Abstract:This paper introduces part of the contents and results of a teaching renovation project conducted at the Architecture Department of Northwestern Polytechnical University, the purpose of which is to promote architecture students’ creative green building design abilities. Firstly, the basic content of the teaching renovation exploration and practice are introduces. Then, the main methods and approaches applied in the teaching renovation are explored and discussed from three perspectives: design topic setting, teaching patterns and assistant methods. Thirdly, results of the teaching renovation are tested and promoted through green building design competition. Lastly, recommendations are made for future training and promotion of architecture students’ green building creative design and practice abilities, with the hope to provide useful references, and to inspire more thoughts in the relevant areas.

Abstract:From the perspective of the college students, the statue of network teaching platform is investigated using the methods of questionnaire and interview. Results show that the students are not active in network teaching platform, insufficiently understanding of the role of network teaching platform, the main barriers are the traditional study methods, network teaching platform, assessment methods. In the end, four suggestions are proposed for improving the status of network teaching platform.

Abstract:Hydrology of bridge and culvert is a important fundamental course for civil engineering construction, and this course connects pre-basic course and follow-up courses. This article explores the documentary into the classroom teaching of hydrology of bridge and culvert. By elicitation method teaching guide the students’ study and thinking. Teaching results show documentary teaching can mobilize the enthusiasm of students, promote them active thinking, and expand their horizons and perspective to analyze issues. The documentary teaching is a good way to supplement classroom teaching, but there are some limitations, which still need to explore and improve in the future.
