Abstract:Campus architecture, which is the carrier of campus culture and university features, is important for talent training. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) roots in traditional Chinese culture and the spirit of humanities is the soul of TCM talents. We take Yunnan University of TCM as an example and state that campus architecture plays an important role in training the spirit of TCM humanities. The architecture of Yunnan University of TCM takes “Qin brick & Han tile, sky circle & earth square, Han & Tang style” as main design elements, and carries forward that the spirit of humanities and the educational theory of TCM, which makes it good works of new campus construction in China.

Abstract:Nowadays, the contemporary architectural practice is asking further mutual combination between structure and architecture. But the traditional curriculum system of structural mechanics and building structure in our country has lagged behind the development of architectural practice. The contents of the courses of structure mechanics and building structure are obsolete and isolated with each other. In order to satisfy the demanding of the development of architectural practice, the curriculum system of building structure for undergraduate students major in architecture is reformed. This reformed curriculum system is composed of courses, such as building mechanics, structure lectotype and the art of building structures. The corresponding class hours, text books, teaching and assessment methodology are also renovated comprehensively. This reforming and practice of the curriculum system of building structure has greatly improved the students’ understanding of the relationship between structural performance and architectural function.

Abstract:Based on the case of Xuzhou Institute of Technology which is a newly established undergraduate college,firstly the adaptability of cultivating innovative and applied talents of civil engineering in such a college was analyzed. Then, its orientation and general requirements of innovative and application-oriented talent training were proposed. Abstract:Establishing a set of the curriculum systems of civil engineering in local university, which are effective, consistent with the school situation, harmonious with the social demands, is the premise to improving the quality of teaching relevant to application-oriented undergraduate. Abstract:The content of soil mechanics is divided into three modules, which changes the traditional soil mechanics teaching status of unified syllabus, unified content and unified teaching mode. The different syllabus of different modules is made for the students with different mechanics level. The teacher can choose different teaching content of different module according to the principle of differential treatment in education. This method can mobilize the students’learning enthusiasm, cultivate the students’interest in learning, help the students to master the core content of soil mechanics, enhance the students’independent thinking ?and engineering practice ability. Abstract:According to the characteristics of undergraduate teaching in elastic mechanics, the interconnection between mathematics and mechanics problems is captured, the transform relationship between the rectangular coordinates and the polar coordinates is expressed using matrix form, and the coordinate transformation of basic physical quantities, such as displacement, body force, stress, strain, can been expressed by matrix form. Using the coordinate transformation, the basic equations in polar coordinates is directly derived from the ones in rectangular coordinates. In this teaching way, the knowledge of mathematics and mechanics is naturally combined, and the derivation of the basic equations is simplified. Moreover, the aesthetics of mathematics and mechanics can be experienced and enjoyed.

Abstract:After a course examination on structural mechanics, a step-by-step score analysis was carried out on a test question aiming at examining the students’ displacement method application. The result of the analysis showed that the main reason for the failure in solving the problem was that most of them can not obtain the stiffness coefficients and free terms of the essential equation based on the displacement method correctly. This paper presents a symbolic rule to eliminate the drawbacks of mistaking the stiffness coefficients and free terms of basic equations that have 2 or more basic unknown quantities. The rule requires that the reference direction for the displacements and constraint forces taken placed at the additional constraints unchanged, meanwhile all constraint forces generated at the same additional constraint should have the same reference direction.

Abstract:In order to meet the needs of rapid development of bridge construction in China, and to improve the current mode of talent education in universities which lays less stress on the practice with too much importance attached to the theory, and also to narrow the gap between the social demand and the undergraduate capability in bridge engineering, an integrated mode of theory and practice teaching is proposed for the curriculum of computing for bridge structures based on the predicament in the current theory and practice teaching. The theory knowledge is mixed together into the modeling practice of realistic bridge structures in the four teaching sections as curriculum provision, teaching content, teaching method and evaluation scheme. According to the typical categories of bridges, learning in groups is arranged and the project-based teaching method is introduced into the class, so that the role of student can be changed and the students will seize and even explore on their own initiatives the functions and principles of the finite element software, rather than accept the operation regulations by passive memory. This new teaching method is believed to enhance the students’ employment competitiveness and also their adaptive faculty for future career development.

Abstract:Analyzed on the current problems existing in environmental engineering education pointed out the importance of the environmental project management. Tongji University sets the environmental project management course to the graduates of environmental science, environmental management specialties. The teaching contents are developed and offered for the course aimed at training applied talents. Multiple teaching methods are suggested and used to stress the content, integrating theoretical studies with practices. Various evaluation methods are adopted considering students’ thinking skills, learning attitudes and team spirit. Abstract:Experimental teaching is the most direct and effective method to cultivate students’engineering quality. However, there is a big disparity between our current experiment teaching system and our teaching target. Abstract:Stability is the key and difficult point in steel structure teaching. As a supplement of he basic principle of steel structures course in civil engineering, Tongji University took the lead in building a multi-functional teaching experiment platform for steel structures in China, which combines theoretical teaching with laboratory practice. Experiment for overall stability of steel beam is one of the most ornamental experiment. However, teaching experimental results in the past few years showed that overall stability bearing capacity were higher than theoretical values because of support of beam, which had a negative effect to teaching. In order to simulate boundary conditions of steel beam accurately, the author improved the support, making the experimental values closer to the theoretical values and thus achieving good teaching effect.

Abstract:There are some common problems in the teaching process of graduation project, such as lack of experienced teachers with engineering practice background, a gap between specialized course and graduation project course, and inadequate engineering design skills of the students. In this paper, a course called engineering design method was set for the graduation project. It contained three knowledge modules including comprehensive design knowledge, drawing design knowledge, and products design knowledge. During the course, some experienced teachers, designers and technicians were invited to give lectures which contained knowledge points and project cases related to engineering design. A teaching effect investigation was also conducted after the course. The result revealed that the course was highly recognized by the students, and the comprehensive design knowledge was the most popular in the knowledge modules.

Abstract:The most prominent problem in the current teaching method of civil engineering materials experiments is less relevance between learning and assessment of experiment . This paper analyzed the assessment method combined experiment teaching. Abstract:There is a contradiction between compound talents demand gap for transformation and upgrading and employment pressure of undergraduate universities in civil engineering industry. Through investigating front line employers and colleges, the demand situation and development trend for talents are studied, and the employment pressure of undergraduate universities is explored in this paper. The reasons of contradiction between talents demand gap of civil engineering industry and employment pressure of undergraduate universities are analyzed. The training mode of compound talents is put forward to solve this contradiction. This research could provide new ideas for solving the training inadequacies of civil engineering talents. This research has also a great significance for the training mode of excellent engineers in the field of civil engineering.

Abstract:Based on Baumol-Fuchs Hypothesis and its subsequent model, introducing a new variable which stands for lags in service wage growth rate, to establish a new econometric model to reveal the reasons of the increase of service employment share growth rate in Chongqing. An empirical study with relevant statistics data of Chongqing from 1985 to 2012 shows that: the increase of manufacturing industry productivity growth rate has a negative effect on the rise of service employment share rate. To enhance connections between the two sectors is the right way to increase the service employment share growth rate; the increase of service productivity growth rate has a positive effect on the rise of service employment share growth rate. Besides, it helps to avoid the “cost disease”; increasing service wage growth rate is an efficient way to improve service employment share growth rate.
