Abstract:As urban construction and city culture getting further developed, the old style public buildings with literal monumental form cannot satisfy people’s new demand for city’s public life. We started with public buildings’ “public” property and “common” connotation as a breakthrough point, analyzed the breakthrough skill and idea used in the public space design of Taiwan Lodong cultural working house, explored the deeper cultural and social connotation hidden under form surface, and then provided a new idea to promote the quality of contemporary urban public cultural buildings accordingly.

Abstract:Current problems of ideological and political education were analyzed. A trinity framework for two courses should be established, which included a scientific platform for the lesson preparation system, practical problem-oriented, enhancing professional qualities. Abstract:Based on the characteristics of complete discipline directions, a perfect cultivation system and the large education scale, the concept and target of talent cultivation were changed in the school of civil engineering of Chongqing University. According to the experience of “top-notch innovative talents” and “ordered type talents” training modes, the diversification talent cultivation modes were explored and constructed. To improve the quality of talents cultivation, the courses construction was also strengthened.

Abstract:The foundation of design is an important course for the landscape architecture majors. In the teaching process, it is universal that students are weak at comprehending three-dimensional spaces in designing, and they prefer to pay more attention on the graphics skills. Based on the exploration of the teaching reform on landscape preliminary design course for freshmen of landscape architecture, we proposed an innovative teaching method to help students gradually practicing the ability of space comprehension and construction via models.

Abstract:In the background of current informatization reform in education and construction industry, combined with the professional course setting in Department of Construction Management of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, we analyzed the course reform of construction management major in finance and economics universities based on BIM. The research results show that the BIM course reform can effectively improve the situation of lacking engineering lab and internship in engineering management major of finance and economics universities, which is beneficial for training professional BIM talents.

Abstract:According to the social needs, the talent training scheme and teaching plan for undergraduate degree of building electrical and intelligent discipline in Zhengzhou University of Light Industry have been revised in a timely manner. Adhering to the “in and out” schooling philosophy and combining with enterprises, core course group construction scheme and practice were carried out driven by engineering projects, which included division of the core course groups, selection of teaching materials, means in classroom teaching, and practice work. The results show that undergraduates’ practical abilities and employment competitiveness have been improved, and a good social reputation and high-quality employment were achieved.

Abstract:Based on comprehensive analysis on current situation of urban underground space engineering specialty construction, shortcomings of practical teaching for talents cultivation were pointed out. A new idea to structure innovative talents cultivation mechanism of urban underground space engineering specialty based on school-enterprise cooperation was put forward by discussing the effects of school- enterprise cooperation for high-level innovative composite engineering talents cultivation. Combined with the characteristics of urban underground space engineering specialty and the importance of practical teaching, many aspects of practical teaching system were expounded, such as setting practical teaching principles and schemes according to talent cultivation targets, structuring practical teaching system with the entry point of multiple integration, constructing an assessment and evaluation system by the standards of degree of satisfaction of students and enterprises, and establishing a long term security system driven by mutual benefit and win-win.

Abstract:Agricultural building and structure engineering is a specialty direction of facility agriculture. The reform of postgraduate training mode was analyzed. Based on the training requirements of professional master degree, the reform on combining course and teaching material system, professional teaching pattern, practical teaching, and cultivation of creative spirit was carried out. Curriculum system and teaching material system were perfected, double tutors and innovation teams were used for cultivating compound talents, and taking the way and contents of practice base as the basis of practice ability training platform.

Abstract:Several reforms on the enrollment system have been carried out in Harvard University according to social development and change for 370 years. Different enrollment systems were conducted in differdnt historical periods. The basic characteristics of the historical evolution of undergraduate enrollment system reform in Harvard University have a positive reference value.

Abstract:The urban and rural planning postgraduate education system in China is just getting started, and seems not adapt to demands of the social and professional practice. We summarized characteristics and trends of the development of urban planning education system in eight advanced countries and regions, and analyzed the mode and change which combined the professional education system with the registered planner system. Then we summarized the experience of the establishment of the system, training objectives, and quality evaluation criteria, and presented some suggestions to the urban and rural planning postgraduate education system.

Abstract:The teaching philosophy of “from the simple learning knowledge to learning knowledge and culturing the ability of solving practical engineering problems” was established, new teaching modules of soil mechanics course were constructed based on the “teaching, learning and using” trinity, the main basic framework were established including the teacher module, the teaching module and the student module, basic approaches were presented from five aspects including classroom teaching, experiment teaching, practice teaching of the construction site, teachers training schools, and cooperation and exchange of teachers with production units, and corresponding courseware was produced. The reform greatly improved students’ soil mechanics theories and related practical abilities, and significantly upgraded the personnel training quality.

Abstract:As one of the required courses for civil engineering majors, seismic design of building structures is difficult to learn due to its complicated contents. Response spectrum theory, conceptual design and structural ductility are key points of this course. Abstract:Combined with features of the concrete structure principles course, we described a multi-technique teaching method in classroom teaching. We emphasized on the 90-minute classroom teaching stage. Taking the teaching content of the chapter, diagonal section resistance, as an example, we elaborated the classroom teaching plan. A completed and reasonable teaching plan is the fundamental guarantee of a satisfied classroom teaching quality.

Abstract:To improve the teaching effect of rock and soil mechanics course and engineering masters’ training quality, we carried out teaching reform on the course, which includes the reform of teaching method (paying attention to heuristic teaching and trying discussion-based teaching), and setting up independent experiment and comprehensive assignment. The result shows that the teaching quality is improved obviously and students’ satisfaction increase greatly.

Abstract:Since the aesthetics is more and more important in bridge design, and bridge engineering course can just solve the problem of structural calculation, we need a new course to teach students how to design the form and landscape of bridge. Three sections of conceptual design of bridges were introduced, and the class hour, teaching contents, teaching methods, and assessment methods of the course were presented. The importance of bridge history in cultivating innovative thinking was emphasized and the additional functions of curriculum design and homework were discussed.

Abstract:Building automation is one of the main courses of building environment and energy application engineering specialty. Its content is multifarious. Abstract:From the training object of urban underground space engineering specialty and the development of modern surveying and mapping technology, we took Southwest Petroleum University as an example, analyzed the shortfalls in teaching contents, practice and examination about engineering surveying course. To embody the main idea of current engineering education: results oriented, taking students as the center, and continuous improvement, we further defined the talent training objectives and positioning, and then discussed the theory teaching, practice teaching content and course evaluation methods. To improve the training quality of urban underground space engineering talents, we should strengthen the cohesion of teaching content with new technology of survey engineering, and focus on the combination of practical skills and theoretical teaching.

Abstract:Residential district planning and design is a typical content of city planning design course, and occupies a very important position. The course teaching is interactive between teachers and students, and its performance evaluation also should use interactive evaluation. Teachers’ leading role and students’ main body effect should be full played. According to the value orientation and the main content of residential planning and design, performance evaluation includes attendance, research, scheme design and the official results. Self-assessment, peer assessment and common assessment by teachers and students should be used in the performance evaluation, which can fully mobilize the interaction between teachers and students and guarantee a fair, reasonable and transparent result.

Abstract:Engineering project management is a course with strong applicability and synthesis, so strengthening students’ practice ability is as important as that of basic knowledge and theory learning. Based on the analysis of previous teaching situation of engineering project management in hydraulic engineering major of Tianjin University, advanced teaching reform methods were explored, such as virtual reality, case analysis and scientific frontier lecture. Practice shows that the teaching reform methods have been implemented successfully to cultivate compound talents with innovative consciousness and practical ability.

Abstract:In line with the development of bidding and contract management theory and practice, and to cultivate engineering management majors’ necessary knowledge and abilities, it is urgent to promote the reform in case teaching method of engineering construction contract management course. Combined with the teaching practice of the course in North China Electric Power University, the connotation of case teaching method was analyzed. The main links in case teaching, including preparatory work, process design and curriculum evaluation, were discussed. Valuable suggestions to improve the case teaching were put forward. The results show that using case studies in teaching activities as well as deep digging on teaching methods and skills will bring good teaching effects.

Abstract:Referred to the characteristics of professional education at the University of Washington in USA, we explored how to improve traffic engineering majors’ participation and enthusiasm in professional curriculum learning. Abstract:In the process of teaching airport pavement course, considering the airport operational safety issues, students often are not admitted to detect the pavement in the field, lacking of practical application. To solve this problem, we presented a new teaching method, guiding students to develop an airport pavement detect buried sensor assembly. They can use the components to carry out pavement testing, collect and track the pavement’s relevant parameters of indicators of mechanical properties under load, analyze changes of pavement in health conditions and mechanical properties of parameters, and then evaluate the pavement’s overall performance. Practice has proved, in the process of researching and application of the buried sensor assembly, students put forward and solve problems, which showed completely their technological innovation capability and practical application ability. In the new teaching model, the problem-oriented approach can stimulate students’ creative thinking and guide them to solve problems. The teaching method combines theory and practice, and improves greatly students’ application ability, which is beneficial for training students’ innovative and practical abilities.

Abstract:After operation and revision for years, although the existing construction and management measures for off-campus internship bases made some achievements in cultivation of application-orientated talents, there are still some problems such as insufficient quantity of internship base engineering projects, engineering corporations and first-tier engineers’ low enthusiasm in participating in cultivation of college and university talents, professional teachers’ insufficient motivation in participating in internship and base construction and poor hardware conditions in the internship base. Based on the existing problems in the internship base construction and management mode, through analyzing the interrelations among colleges and universities which are the internship plan makers, internship bases which are the significant participants and the interns which are the principal beneficiaries, we put forward the “trinity” construction and management mode from the angle of improving the internship quality and effect.

Abstract:Under the new background of the Education and Training Program of Excellence Engineers (E&TPEE), the education and training for college engineering talents have higher requirements than before. The practice teaching of the environmental engineering major in Henan Polytechnic University (HPU) has been carried out for many years. Many deficiencies and experience have been accumulated from aspects of students, teachers, colleges and enterprises. According to the talent training objectives of E&TPEE, the reform on the practice teaching of environmental engineering major was carried out, expanding the production practice to four steps: enterprise visiting, simulation experiment, post exercising and environmental monitoring, and focusing on the cultivation of engineering practice ability and innovation ability to achieve a win-win situation and development of colleges, students and enterprises.

Abstract:Based on the experience of three bridge graphic design contests in academy level, Fuzhou University held the first contest in university level successfully, which aimed at inspiring students’ innovation, team spirit and manipulative ability, as well as enriching the teaching content of bridge engineering. The theme of this contest was a footbridge in Fuzhou University in new district, and the participants present their conceptual design in the form of graphics and text. The result shows that such kind of contest can broaden students’ horizon and stimulate their creativity and learning enthusiasm effectively through participation in the competition. The teaching group of bridge engineering in Fuzhou University summarized the corresponding experience, and conducted a study on the sustainable development of bridge graphic design contest. The study results provide better ideas for the next contest and valuable experience to other universities to organize a similar competition or carry out practical teaching reform.

Abstract:Cultivating undergraduates’ engineering practice ability is to meet the needs of social development for high quality talents. The practice teaching of traffic engineering based on professional projects will reduce the gap between students’ ability and enterprises’ demand. A survey of employers for college graduates in traffic engineering was conducted in Beijing. The results show that the practice application ability is the employers’ uppermost concern. All employers agreed to conduct the practice teaching of traffic engineering based on project. They also gave suggestions for the project form, content and cooperation form of college and enterprise in the practice teaching based on project. The analysis conclusions will contribute to the improvement of practice teaching mode and the comprehensive practice ability of undergraduates in traffic engineering.

Abstract:Based on study of teaching system, teaching contents and teaching reform of structural mechanics curriculum, we analyzed the idea of multimedia assisted teaching system, software contents, and the application in classroom teaching. Four aspects including auxiliary teaching content, assessment testing, mutual analysis and media enjoy interactive computing were designed and fourteen function modules were programmed. Software meaning and use of the functional modules were analyzed. The result shows good teaching effect of structural mechanics course.

Abstract:The design competition is an important part of the innovation of the education system, and it is one of the important means to cultivate students’ innovative and practical abilities. As the 12th five-year development planning of construction industry includes the development and application of BIM, more and more BIM talents with high quality are needed. To put the practice ability and innovation ability training throughout the modern university education, we summarized our teaching experience, and put forward how to construct and implement the BIM teaching workshop. The construction of the BIM teaching workshop can unify students’ design skills and design effects, improve a relatively closed teaching system with the introduction of an interaction mechanism with an auxiliary “external thinking”, change the traditional teaching method with the introduction of an interaction mechanism with an auxiliary “external incentive”, and give full play to students’ initiative and enthusiasm by using the competition project, which can finally improve and promote the BIM teaching.

Abstract:With the rapid development of the construction industry, widely used BIM technology has become a major trend in the construction industry. Compared with developed countries, research on BIM technology in China was in its infancy. Considering good prospects for BIM development in our country, we can adopt BIM technology into engineering management course teaching in universities and colleges in order to cultivate talents meeting the needs of industry. We analyzed current problems existing in engineering management teaching and proposed some suggestions for the BIM-based curriculum reform.
