Abstract:In the process of changing teaching-centered university gradually to the teaching and research university, as for the needs of survival and development, most universities aimed on the highest transformation goal of the research university. Thus, the basic function of universities was alienated. Starting from the true connotation of university functions, we presented the transient problems and proposed an idea of reconstruct teaching and research culture in universities and colleges. We should look the teaching and research culture in universities and teachers’ research in an objective and dialectical view, make the idea of running a school and teacher evaluation system in universities return to a rational track of fundamental functions, and promote the development of university teaching and research culture.

Abstract:In China, Hubei University of Technology initiated to set up the waterproof materials & engineering discipline attached to civil engineering in 2005. Based on the collaborative innovation system between college and enterprise, the aim of the discipline is to cultivate high-level application-oriented talents to meet the continuous development of waterproof industry. We summed up the discipline construction experience of waterproof materials & engineering from aspects of running ideas, talent training mode and implementation measures, which can be a reference for engineering talent training mode reform in other universities.

Abstract:There are 6 points of ability structure listed in Guiding Discipline Standard for Urban and Rural Planning Undergraduates in China’s Institutes of Higher Education, which is the goal of the development of urban and rural planning discipline in the future. Relevant courses are needed to support the knowledge acquisition of the ability structure. As the main course of urban and rural planning, the design courses are connected in series to develop students’ ability structure. Based on the 6 points of ability structure, we analyzed the existing problems of the traditional teaching and discussed the teaching reform of design courses from aspects of curriculum system perfection, courses connection, teaching methods and cultivation mechanism innovation.

Abstract:To realize the objective of training application-oriented college students, we studied a professional course system of civil engineering, which well integrated theoretical teaching and practical teaching. A practical teaching system of civil engineering was constructed by a teaching platform consisting of basic experiment, professional practice and engineering skill training, and training of innovation and entrepreneurship. To ensure the performance quality and continuity of practical teaching system, guarantee measures and a ministering system were also analyzed. It is very important to develop a new practical teaching system which is suitable for and can promote discipline of civil engineering in technique-application-oriented universities.

Abstract:Standing on the situation of higher engineering education and practice teaching, measures of practice teaching reform for building environment and energy engineering specialty of Hunan University of Technology were described in detail. Taking general practical ability, basal practical ability, professional practical ability and comprehensive practical ability as the core, a practical teaching system of four levels and four modules was constructed which was suitable for practical ability training to innovate the teaching links including the comprehensive course design, engineering technical training and in-post teaching training. The practice result indicates that the practical teaching system has a good effect on the cultivation of building environment and energy engineering majors’ practical abilities, and makes them more competitive in job-hunting.

Abstract:In the process of reform deeply on graduate education in China, the training mode of the full-time professional degree graduate students is still in the exploration and construction phase. Problems of imperfect talent cultivation system, inadequate work of the main training units in colleges and universities, and passive mentors restrict the development of the training mode, which cannot meet the social demands for high-level talents. The government, colleges and universities, and mentor team of the main body must make efforts together to strengthen the training. Based on the main existing problems, we took the training mode, institutions of mentor team, and the quality evaluation system as research objects, and proposed some targeted countermeasures including highlighting the characteristics of graduate education in professional degree, promoting pluralistic-integrative system of tutor team, and setting up specialized management agencies to improve the quality evaluation system for making positive benefits on reform and promoting the graduate education reform and the development of the society.

Abstract:Teaching patterns were analyzed for graduate students in technical and science universities in China, and the multi-mutual modes should be used to meet the requirements of quality education. Some suitable teaching patterns for different types of courses were proposed based on characteristics of HVAC courses. The frame figure of teaching pattern for HVAC discipline was put forward based on the theory of analytic hierarchy process, which was a theory basis for further study of teaching patterns of different courses.

Abstract:Landscape is a new first grade discipline, which provides an opportunity for the specialty development and also proposes higher requirements for landscape professional education. Landscape urbanism advocates disciplines integration and professional cooperation. It is committed to landscape to replace architecture and planning to be the basic growth model and ecological system supporting the modern urban development, and it represents a world outlook and methodology which is used to recognize and deal with the relationship between people and earth. While urban design is always regarded as a professional specialty comprehensively dealing with relationships between different urban systems and elements, which represents the public value orientation and high-quality urban environment, it represents a design method and technical strategy providing multi-system coordinative mechanism to control and guide the urban development. Based on the landscape perspective, how to make the course’ composition, nature and status, teaching goals and requirements more clear was explored through urban design courses under the framework of landscape teaching system.

Abstract:According to the “multi-media, engineering case studies and numerical simulations” teaching model and knowledge modules, actual engineering cases were selected as teaching subjects, and numerical simulation experiments based on finite element software and multimedia technology were applied in teaching of earthquake-resistant of structure. In this sense, students were attracted into a real seismic engineering situation and the visualization of course contents was realized. Meanwhile, teachers and students were interacted. By using the teaching model, students’ ability to understand basic conceptions of earthquake-resistant of structure and their practical application ability were improved.

Abstract:From years of teaching practice, design and construction on multi-story and high-rise building structure, I found that some concepts of multi-story and high-rise building structure in teaching are ambiguous. In the calculation of horizontal load, some people cannot understand the using condition ib/ic≥3 and the design principle of stronger column and weaker beam for aseismic structure. Some people even think the condition and the principle are incompatible. In fact, they are different perspectives of two relative problems. To clear the concept and design correctly, verifications were put forward based on the essential meaning of the building structure.

Abstract:The heat transfer course has a broad scope of knowledge. It is theoretical and practical, which is hard to study. Based on the characteristics, we discussed classroom-teaching methods of heat transfer from an educational psychology view, which focused on learning strategies and memory strategies accompanied by three useful methods of problem-based learning, methods of analogue and correlation, and case study. The practice result shows a good classroom teaching quality.

Abstract:Structural seismic design is regarded as the main course of civil engineering specialty. There are two steps of inquiry teaching in practice. One is situation setting according to questioning, and the other is active instruction in the light of its general trend. Combined with many engineering cases, situations were induced based on students’ cognitive structure. Progressive questionings transformed students from viewers to participants. The serial and parallel scenes were selected considered the teaching contents. Teachers’ leading and students’ initiative were stressed during the interaction process. The new cognitive structure model was built with assimilation and complied with the matter.

Abstract:The success and failure of the college curriculum reform depend on teachers and students both. Taking civil engineering material course as an example, we studied the “learning promoting teaching” curriculum reform model based on the view of students’ study, which can promote students’ study enthusiasm, develop their subjectivity and show students’ central position during the teaching reform. This curriculum reform model focused on the relationship between teaching and studying and its effect evaluation. The characteristics of this model were that the teaching method was based on the point of student, students’ study information can be got and considered during the whole teaching procedure, and synthesis methodology was used to evaluate students’ achievements. The four-year reform practice and analysis show that the reform model can strengthen students’ subjectivity, develop their subject capacity, cultivate their subject personality, and stimulate their study enthusiasm.

Abstract:Based on the research background of the current teaching situation, we discussed the existing problems in the teaching of steel structure course. Abstract:According to difficulties and problems of practical ability training of engineering students in colleges and universities in China, we carried out the exploration and practice on the college students’ practice ability training model based on students’ professional interest. The new model of students’ practical ability training was based on college students’ innovative training program and undergraduate graduation design. Students’ autonomy in the practical teaching was prominent by independent research of small experimental platform, which can cultivate engineering students’ abilities of proposing, analyzing and solving problems. The practice indicates that the new model can effectively cultivate college students’ innovative spirit and practice ability, which shows engineering talent training features and promotes the satisfaction of enterprise about the engineering graduates.

Abstract:According to the characteristics and situation of the principle of engineering structure design, experimental teaching demonstration system was designed independently based on the virtual instrument, which combined computer technology with testing technology closely. The data processing and interface display program for the experimental teaching demonstration had functions of experiment types selection, parameter setting, graphics real-time display, and data storage and reproduction. Practice result shows that the demo system provides a friendly and open platform for students to carry out the engineering structure experiments, which has a broad application prospect.

Abstract:Complete credit system management is the trend of Chinese higher education reform. The engineering training course is practical and it is important to train students’ ability of engineering practice and innovation capability in colleges. We put forward a view that open engineering training teaching model is the only way to realize the organic combination of engineering training and complete credit system based on the analysis of the characteristics of complete credit system and engineering training teaching. We analyzed problems and shortages of the complete credit system applied in engineering training teaching mode, and presented scheme and the implementation of the open engineering training teaching mode under the complete credit system, which can solve problems in the application of the complete credit system in the engineering training teaching in most colleges.

Abstract:As the current main transmission equipment of the electric power communication network, MSTP (multi-service transport platform based on SDH) equipment is carrying the key data for remote monitoring and controlling power grid. SDH principle was used to achieve the interconnection and interworking of various communication services between different kinds of optical transmission equipment, the problem of distal independent element’s remote monitor and controlling in central station was solved through Ethernet channel, the basic transmission principle of SDH and the condition of interconnection and interworking were summarized, and the fusion of different optical transmission equipment networks was realized with the lowest cost. The safety level of power communication network was improved effectively.

Abstract:At present, some explorations on teaching content, teaching strategy and teaching means become the urgent needs to improve the teaching quality of concrete structure. Along with the popularization of mobile internet and smart phones, micro blog has wide application areas and long term application prospects in assisting classroom teaching as an interactive platform which is acceptable by college students. The promotion of micro blog interaction to the teaching of concrete structure was investigated based on the practice of applying micro blog in the teaching of concrete structure. The practice result shows that students have a high approval on the “classroom teaching and micro blog assisting” mode, a clear improvement on mastering basic concepts, and a reinforced comprehension about the difference and connection between books and codes. Meanwhile, the differential learning is achieved and the communication ability is enhanced.
