Abstract:Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system consumes a large proportion of energy in buildings. With the continuous development of energy-saving and green building, the professional quality of people who is in charge of the operation of HVAC system is one of the critical factors, which cannot be ignored. In order to meet the requirement of the times, as well as to cultivate talents with good quality for operation of public utilities, substantive work has been carried out at Nanjing Tech University, which includes the concept of education, cultivation objective, construction of curriculum group, rebuilding of teaching system, establishment of practical teaching base, mode of practical teaching, and engineering training of teachers. It has obtained both acknowledgement of students and support from industry. By combination of the idea of engineering education and the practical project, intellectual support can be provided for sustainable operation of building which will be real "green" and "energy efficient".

Abstract:The engineering education is relatively backward for the application-oriented civil engineering specialty in Chinese colleges. These problems of stale and outdated ideas, teaching system relatively poor state, education platform weakness generally exist in engineering education. Based on the current situation of the application-oriented civil engineering specialty and the results of reform theory and practice, the overall idea of the reform of engineering education was put forward, and reform measures such as to establish great idea of engineering education, reconstruction teaching systems, reform of teaching content and teaching method, creation of "five-in-one" model were proposed. This research may provide a useful reference for the education reform of the civil engineering specialties based on application type talents.

Abstract:With the rapid development of social economy, the requisite quantity for applied graduate student is greatly increasing in society. Through analyzing architecture and civil engineering professional degree in present, it was found that our school degree program for architecture and civil engineering had obvious characteristic in the warehouse factory construction for grain and oil, but hadn't a clear goal for professional degree. There are many problems, for example, the degree program is not very famous in society, and the cultivation system is not perfect. In view of the deficiency, firstly the appropriate construction goal of the degree program was ascertained, and then specifically implemented program was proposed for system construction, optimization design of training scheme, improvement of the curriculum system, teaching staff construction, and practice teaching base. Finally, to guarantee the goal of construction brand, specific guarantee measures were put forward.

Abstract:According to the characteristics of the construction management industry and relevant talent market demand trend, the current problems existing in the construction management undergraduate course personnel were analyzed. Abstract:The application of innovative talents training mode of civil engineering specialty in local undergraduate colleges was studied. The "1+2.5+0.5" personnel training mode combining with the teaching practice of civil engineering in Hubei Institute of Project was put forward. It aims at training students' innovative spirit and practice ability, establishing win-win cooperation mechanism between colleges, common practice teaching practice bases construction, carrying out "green" and "group one" practice teaching team, promoting and perfecting the practice teaching informationization reform, and exploring the innovative talent training in applied undergraduate colleges and universities of civil engineering specialty of the new method, to provide a reference for other civil engineering colleges.

Abstract:The curriculum of the undergraduate program of the department of materials engineering in the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada, was fully analyzed in this paper. After comparative analyses of the courses, academic direction, part of the syllabus and teaching methods, it was found that UBC's curriculum basically biases the traditional metal materials, at the same time keeps up with the times and develops new research and academic directions as well. During the arrangement of the courses, UBC pays attention to the basic knowledge and its application in the research and development of materials. UBC trained their students with the idea of more general materials science and engineering, which is a good reference for the training of undergraduate students of materials science and engineering in China and can be used as a reference for the optimization of curriculum system in China.

Abstract:Practical education is an important part of undergraduate education, and one of the most important part to cultivate students' comprehensive ability, especially for the major of Civil Engineering, for which the requirement of practical ability is relatively high. The practical education of three famous universities in Japan, e.g. University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, and Tokyo Institute of Technology, were introduced here. The characteristics of the practical education systems and the role of practical education in the curriculum were discussed. Based on the discussion, the advantages of the practical education system in the universities of Japan would be summarized. And it would provide some useful information for the practical education reforms in China and the effective implementation of the outstanding engineer education program.

Abstract:To promote the practical training standardization of full-time professional master in the field of architecture and civil engineering, this paper aims at establishing a set of feasible, operable index system and evaluation method. According to the practical training characteristics of the full-time professional master in the field of architecture and civil engineering in Wuhan University of Technology, the Gray clustering model was applied to evaluate quality grade of practical training combined with hierarchy analytic process. The evaluation result shows that practice base is the weak link of practice teaching of our university, which can show us the correct direction in improving the practical training standardization.

Abstract:Three-Dimensional Composition is a very important component of Form-Composition training course in traditional Architectural basic education; it's also a bridge connecting the enlightenment in Architectural cognition and primary application of Form Design. While the growing lack of Humane and Art accomplishment, and continuous spread of Form-Aesthetics pursuit has caused a large impact on the core values which should be held in the Architectural professional education. This paper was based on the author's review and reflection of the teaching experiences on the Three-Dimensional Composition trying to explore a teaching reform method of Three-Dimensional Composition which was experiencing the basic elements and their system of Architecture like the "space" and "tectonic" from a perspective of architectural thinking cultivation. Furthermore it proposed the specific curriculum reform programs which was applied to dynamically connect the series of the Form-Composition curriculums, efficiently strengthen the capacity of Three-Dimensional model construction, and systematically cultivate the thinking logic for Architecture Design, and it also shows and summaries some of the results of teaching reform in recent years.

Abstract:Aiming at the problems currently existing in the teaching of the curriculum of design of steel structure principle, this article conducted teaching reform exploration and practice of the "combination of three requirements, research on three levels, setting up the second classroom, construction of two platforms, and implement of two improvements". Namely, textbook compilation is carried according to three requirements of industry development, practical application, and the students' study. Study three levels of teaching and appraisal method on cases, tasks and projects. Second classroom jointing with steel structure enterprises was opened. Abstract:According to current situation of soil mechanics and foundation engineering curriculum in universities, the ‘3333’ teaching design was proposed. The reorganization of teaching content was carried out based on the engineering problems and the original knowledge system was broken. Six modules with 20 questions of teaching content system were established. In order to improve the students' learning interest and learning initiative, the teaching methods such as problem teaching, engineering case teaching, situation teaching and personalized teaching were combined and adopted. Finally, some suggestions for improving the soil mechanics and foundation engineering course construction were put forward.

Abstract:The core courses of geotechnical engineering discipline, as a very practical course, are prone to the separation between theory and practice in classroom teaching. After years of exploration and teaching practice, a case teaching model based on ability training is gradually established. By focusing on the selection of "native cases" and creating "immersive and empathy" classroom situations, the students can be better involved in the case analysis under the instructions of the teachers. Their interests in the case study and the classroom teaching are also stimulated, and the effect of classroom teaching is therefore improved.

Abstract:Since 2010, the training program for the civil engineering major has been adjusted to meet the requirement of the excellent engineering education in Tongji University. The undergraduate students of civil engineering major need to be able to solve practical problems and its every professional direction should have corresponding practical teaching steps. The practical courses are a connecting link between the basic theory and the practical application and several key points in the design courses are presented to improve the teaching method of the courses. For Building Concrete Structures Design, it is the first time that the basic theory should be combined with the practice. Through the practical course the undergraduate students should be familiar with the related design code, professional atlas and drawing specifications. Meanwhile, they should be able to determine the structural scheme of the buildings and to analyze and design the structures by themselves. The primary aim of the design courses is to train the undergraduate students to solve the engineering problems as an engineer. Abstract:Aimed at the predicaments of civil engineering bilingual education under credit charging system, two kinds of questionnaires of students in opened course and deserted course were compiled, to investigate the orientation, expectation and improvement direction of civil engineering bilingual course. The results show that most students didn't realize the importance of bilingual course, and even the course has to be deserted when it is an optional course in the last 2 years. However, students of opening course played in class; all they wanted to do is to pass the exam, not for knowledge. In order to improve teaching effects, the course content should be based on the real engineering to attract students' attention, and the current situation of global civil engineering must be promoted to students to urge them study the so-called useless civil engineering bilingual course diligently.

Abstract:Through the analysis of current situation and existing problems of university-industry cooperation practice teaching in civil engineering, the factors of the operating mechanism and the difference between them were expounded. The university-industry cooperation practice teaching mode under current civil engineering practice teaching mode and enterprise operation mode and the construction methods of its operating mechanism were proposed. The operating mechanism of industry-university-research cooperation practice teaching were designed and explored in the aspects of constructing organization and management department, modular teaching, building quality evaluation system and the solutions to relevant problems. Abstract:It is a common problem in the experimental teaching that the introductions of large equipment and special equipment are limited. In order to guarantee the effect of experimental teaching, the concept of the remote resource sharing of large-scale equipment was brought forward based on the method of combination of virtual and reality, which was proposed during the construction of the national virtual simulation experimental center of Southeast University. By using the self-developed hardware and software, solutions were obtained for the remote resource sharing laboratory development. Through the remote desktop sharing and multi-angle video sharing, remote control, operation and experimental teaching of large equipment can be accomplished, which enabled the students to operate and analyze test data in personal. The results show that, the problem of low utilization efficiency of large equipment in the laboratory construction can be overcame, comprehensive experimental courses can be established by remote resource sharing of equipment, which solved the problem of equipment lack and improves the practical ability of students.

Abstract:As a new kind of personnel training mode which combines the tutorial system and the opening laboratory system, the undergraduate laboratory tutorial system has already attracted the attention of many educators. The Civil Engineering Collage of Tongji University decided to introduce the tutorial system, including the undergraduate laboratory tutorial system, into the undergraduate training system from grade 2014. This article sketches out the development process and status of the tutorial system, explores the significance of the laboratory tutorial system, introduces the content of the laboratory tutorial system in detail and some recommendations for further improvement.

Abstract:In today's information era background, BIM technology as a new concept and tools for building construction experiment teaching, is the development trend of teaching. This paper analyzed the difficulties faced by the undergraduate and graduate students in civil engineering. The teaching in rock mechanics experiments combined with the BIM technology has carried out for 2 to 3 years and achieved a more obvious teaching effect. Abstract:Soil mechanics focus on both fundamental theories and engineering practices. Its core contents including the theory of bearing capacity of foundation usually take assumptions which disagree with the practical engineering conditions. However, the practice teaching of such contents was unavailable due to the limited teaching conditions. As a result, the teaching effect was unsatisfactory. To fill up the deficiency above, a multiple-function plane test-bed which was applicable to the soil mechanics teaching was developed. Based on this test-bed, typical issues in soil mechanics including bearing capacity of foundation, earth pressure and slope stability can be physically simulated. It is shown that the present test-bed has beneficial effects which traditional teaching does not have.

Abstract:The course of Pump and Water Pump Station is an important course in the water supply and sewerage engineering. However, the prevalence of book-based teaching model in the teaching process focuses on theory ignoring combination of theory with practice. For the actual teaching situation of pump and pump station in Nanjing Tech University, the features of the course were introduced. The following aspects were proposed for educational reform of course:focusing the concise and highlighting the difficulty; the practice of classroom situational teaching; extracurricular practice teaching; strengthening practical course design; innovative practice teaching in cultivating innovation ability. Innovative methods were put forward for providing a new idea for the teaching method reform, including teaching reform of the course, to deepen the teaching reform, improving teaching quality, cultivating the ability of analyzing and solving problems for students and innovative ability.

According to statistics, fire science is the most popular research area in safety engineering specialty and discipline-crossing character is very obvious for fire science. Abstract:The graduation design of railway route design is summative and practical teaching for railway engineering students. Abstract:The prominent problems existing in the current practicum mode were analyzed by questionnaire survey and interview, which took the specialty of urban underground space engineering in four universities of Central China as examples. A new practicum mode based on the theory of STC was proposed, which would be conducive not only to the students' career development but also win-win for university and enterprise.

Abstract:The essence of human being is free and conscious activity. College students' entrepreneurship is the inevitable trend of the times. It is the inescapable result of the increasingly severe employment pressure and the successful impetus of science and technology's development. College students' self-employment is the consequent requirement for the development of college students, which is beneficial to the students' individual development. Through the current analysis of various influence factors including government, universities and college students, this paper put forward some feasible suggestions from three perspectives, which are strengthening government policy guidance, promoting the development of entrepreneur education in colleges and universities and enhancing college students' entrepreneurial quality.

Abstract:As an important part of General Education in university education system, Chinese Calligraphy Art Education makes its unique contribution to coordinated development of Science and Engineering students. Firstly, Calligraphy Art Education plays an extraordinary role in Moral Education, which helps Science and Engineering students enhance recognition of Chinese traditional culture, and create Chinese Nation self-confidence in creativity so on. Secondly, Calligraphy Art Education also plays an important role in Intellectual Education, which helps Science and Engineering students enhance their abstract thinking level, and improve their practical ability as well. Moreover, Calligraphy Art Education takes responsibility of Aesthetic Education, which helps Science and Engineering students enhance aesthetic consciousness and grade, and promote their aesthetic cultivation. Consequently, through a series of calligraphic practice, fully development of the function of Chinese Calligraphy Arts in Moral Education, Intellectual Education and Aesthetic Education can be achieved.
