    Abstract:
    General education is an effective way to realize quality-oriented education, with distinctive characteristics of value shaping and compound talents training. General education runs through the whole process of university education. It cultivates students' comprehensive qualities such as humanistic cultivation, moral sentiment and social responsibility by virtue of moral cultivation. In the process of promoting general education, science and engineering universities face with a series of problems, which are mainly reflected in the course teaching management system, top-level design, teacher staff construction, contradiction between general education and professional education, teaching methods, and so on. General education focuses on "education" rather than "teaching". Taking the general education course for civil engineering-subway culture ramble as an example, the teaching mode of general education courses in science and engineering colleges are explored, and the teaching system with "research", "discussion", "practice", "training" and "verification" is built, so as to achieve the purpose of general education. The general education of science and engineering colleges should build a "student-centered" curriculum system with integration of general education and professional education, based on their subject characteristics and resource advantages, and the concept of education should be integrated into the whole process of course teaching. At the same time, the construction of general education courses needs the help of "internet +" technology and big data management to achieve the purpose of educating students.

    Abstract:
    Under the background of ecological civilization construction, the education of landscape architecture in China undertakes the responsibility of cultivating professionals with ecological awareness and ecological literacy for social development. As the basic support and key construction direction of landscape architecture disciplines, the combination of landscape ecology education with the discipline construction and the development of landscape ecology become the intrinsic requirements to measure the ecological development of the discipline. This paper selects 10 typical domestic colleges and universities which open landscape architecture originating from architecture or agriculture and forestry. Taking their undergraduate education programs and main ecology courses in recent three years as research objects, this paper analyzes the course structure, content distribution, teaching requirements and course types of ecological education in landscape architecture, and summarizes the present situation of the curriculum composition and basic characteristics of landscape architecture ecological education at undergraduate level in domestic colleges and universities. Then it prospects the role of ecological education of landscape architecture in the ecological society construction in the new era.

    Abstract:
    The traditional talent training mode of civil engineering has many shortcomings, such as low participation of enterprises, course content lagging behind the development of industry technology, loose combination of theory and practice teaching, and backward management methods. Through in-depth investigation and research, the research group puts forward the new talent training mode of "3 + 0.5 + 0.5", which is the process of theoretical learning, practical growth and theoretical carding, to build a long-term mechanism of school-enterprise linkage talent training. Integrating modern engineering intelligent manufacturing technology, the professional curriculum system is reconstructed. Relying on the platform of national BIM skills competition, project driven teaching is implemented to cultivate engineering intelligent manufacturing ability. Using information technology to reform traditional teaching and management methods, boundless teaching and practice management are implemented and a quantitative evaluation system of practical teaching quality is constructed. The comprehensive reform of civil engineering specialty has been highly recognized by the industry and enterprises, and the quality of personnel training and employment has been steadily improved.

    Abstract:
    Due to the accreditation of civil engineering in Hainan University, the educational objectives, graduation requirements, practical curriculum, teaching pedagogy and some other aspects are deeply researched and practiced based on accreditation engineering education. Meanwhile, the similarities and differences in program setup and objectives of civil engineering undergraduate education are compared and analyzed between State University of New York Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) and Hainan University. The merits and potential beneficial aspects of the SUNY Poly program are reflected. Their excellent experience should be absorbed and transformed, to scientifically build an output-oriented and market-oriented talent training system for civil engineering with distinctive regional characteristics.

    Abstract:
    The Rural Revitalization and the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Marco Greater Bay Area provide new development opportunities for civil engineering talent training in agricultural universities. In order to realize the goal of integrative talents training of civil engineering in agricultural universities, which is "mastering the knowledge of management, design and construction", taking South China Agricultural University as an example, a "five-in-one" talent training mode reflecting characteristics of agricultural universities is constructed by integrating teaching resources inside and outside school, and following the school-running characteristics of "industry-based, combination of industry and agriculture". The curriculum system, experimental teaching system, science and technology team of students, teaching staff, teaching quality monitoring and guarantee system have been reformed. Practice shows that the "five-in-one" talent training model has achieved good results in terms of teaching conditions, teaching and research level of teachers, students' comprehensive ability, and social impact.

    This article analyzes the problems in the training of engineering graduate students based on the background of emerging engineering construction.     Abstract:
    With the increasing demand for high-quality compound talents in society, the scale of graduate enrollment continues to expand, and the diversity of graduate enrollment types develops. The limitations and deficiencies of traditional single-tutorial graduate training gradually appear. In view of the main problems existing in the process of postgraduate training in recent years, this paper analyzes the relationship between the number of postgraduates reported and the change of tutor composition structure from the aspects of postgraduate training system and teacher-student structure, and expounds the importance of the reform of postgraduate training system. On this basis, it puts forward the reform method of postgraduate tutor team construction mechanism. Through the analysis and optimization of tutor research direction composition, tutor age echelon and team regular meeting system in the graduate tutor team, we can achieve the goal of more efficient graduate management, more diversified innovative thinking cultivation and more personalized graduate cultivation.     Abstract:
    Emerging engineering education is a major strategic decision of China's engineering education facing with new technology and new development. As a traditional engineering major, civil engineering needs to adjust the future development direction of the industry. Taking the training of full-time postgraduates of civil engineering as an example, this paper expounds the necessities of emerging engineering construction in civil engineering, analyzes and summarizes problems existing in the current postgraduate ability training process. On this basis, it proposes the training targets and measures of postgraduates' cross innovation ability, including practical innovation ability, scientific research innovation ability and interdisciplinary ability. And tutor team building is taking as subsidiary issue, to promote the cultivation of postgraduates' ability and to improve the overall quality of full-time graduate students.

    Abstract:
    Case course teaching focuses on the combination of theory and practice, and aims to solve the problem of disconnection between theoretical knowledge and practical work. The teaching of case courses is in line with the training goal of Master of Engineering and is an important direction of education reform of Master of Engineering now. Taking case courses of Geological Engineering Master of Hohai University as an example, the construction and implementation of case courses are discussed, and suggestions for further improvement of case teaching are given. The results show that, as a teaching mode suitable for Engineering Masters, case teaching method can effectively mobilize graduate students' learning enthusiasm, promote their thinking, and enhance learning outcomes. Meanwhile, it is an enlightening, open and interactive learning process, which needs cooperation and joint efforts of teachers and graduate students. Case teaching method can be improved in the following five aspects:strengthening teachers' scientific research literacy, enriching teaching case categories, selecting typical practical engineering cases, strengthening teacher-student interaction, and improving the evaluation mechanism for graduates.

    Abstract:
    Under the background of development of emerging engineering education, strengthening the cultivation of students' engineering application ability is an important part of deepening the teaching reform in universities. Advanced engineering thermodynamics, as a basic theory course with strong engineering application and always implements the training concept of emerging engineering, could be regarded as an important entry point for the cultivation of graduate students' ability to integrate theory with practice. This paper discusses a "four-in-one" teaching mode of advanced engineering thermodynamics, including frontier teaching and extension, engineering case design, research project exploration, and comprehensive ability assessment. In this teaching mode, students are encouraged to study and explore independently, and an integrated learning and research community of teacher and students is formed. The practice platform of cultivating graduate students' engineering innovation ability is formed with the mutual promotion of teaching, learning, and research, and the students' engineering application and innovation abilities are enhanced.

    The fundamental purpose of student-centered engineering education certification is to promote or enhance "educational output". In order to meet the needs of water conservancy science and technology talent training under the background of the new era, Tongji University's port, waterway and coastal engineering major starts from the revision of the training plan, and implements the OBE concept through the revision of training objectives, the specific decomposition of graduation requirements, and the continuous improvement of curriculum system to realize the transition from cultivating "discipline-oriented" talents to cultivating "engineering-oriented" talents, from cultivating talents with strong professional and technical capabilities to cultivating compound talents with professional capabilities, professional qualities, and social responsibilities, to realize the substantial equivalence to international certification of hydraulic engineers.     Abstract:
    Emerging engineering education is posing new challenges to the cultivation of professional talents. As the traditional core course of water supply and drainage science and engineering, the course of water quality engineering is both theoretical and practical, involving a wide range of professional knowledge and is comprehensive. It is necessary to focus on the connotation of emerging engineering and national major needs, and to reform and innovate the course. Aiming at the problems existing in traditional teaching, based on the student-centered approach, we design the multi-level teaching objectives according to "knowledge exploration, capacity building, and value guidance", update the teaching contents in line with the latest developments in the industry, design teaching activities based on the multi-dimensional teaching objectives, and carry out teacher-guided and accompany-style autonomous learning mode.     Material mechanics is an important professional basic course for mining engineering. Collecting, collating and teaching related cases of mining engineering can effectively improve the teaching effect. Driven by science and technology, mining engineering in China has achieved vigorous development, including many achievements and failure cases. If these cases are selected as teaching cases, they can make the course lively. Based on the curriculum of material mechanics, several representative cases related to mining engineering are listed, including the axial tensioning of non-full-length anchors, axial compression of the mining pillar, shearing and extrusion of anchor trays, shearing of the horizontal roadway crossing normal fault, twist of the drill pipe of mining rigs, hypotheses of the fixed beam and cantilever beam for the roof, strength theory of rocks under uniaxial or triaxial compression, combined deformation of the transmission shaft of the roadheader, the instability of the compressive single hydraulic prop, and the fall accidents of the shaft cage. They correspond to each chapter in the course of material mechanics, and can provide case reference for the classroom teaching of instructors.

    China's urbanization process has accelerated, and the opportunities for regional development have made the teaching of regional planning courses in urban and rural planning face challenges. Especially at present, the sustainable development of regional planning and the innovative development of comprehensive land and space planning show an urgent need to rely on the advancement of basic research and its innovation results. This article briefly analyzes the significant promotion effect of relevant basic research development on regional planning from three levels of theory, technology and practice, and further proposes that, in the critical stage of China's new era development, on the one hand, regional planning must be proactive and relevant to basic research. The combination of innovation and major breakthroughs can effectively promote the transformation and upgrading of China's regional planning. On the other hand, regional planning must actively integrate with the territorial and spatial planning system, and develop new demands for regional planning and curriculum teaching in accordance with the development of territorial and spatial planning at different levels.     Abstract:
    Owing to the outbreak of COVID-19, the opening of spring semester is postponed, but teaching is not suspended, which requires teachers to utilize the network platform for online teaching. How to ensure the quality of teaching and learning has become a big challenge. Based on the online questionnaire platform "www.wjx.cn", this paper analyzes the students after six-week online course. The results show that students are basically satisfied with online teaching, network stability and platform ease of use are the main influencing factors of online teaching effect. In addition to reasonable content arrangement and skilled platform use, teachers should use online real-time assessment to maintain students' attention and enthusiasm. In addition, the duration of online courses should be shortened appropriately. These research results can provide data support for the adjustment and improvement of online teaching in the later stage.

    In the context of COVID-19, a mixed-mode teaching is explored. The reforms for teaching content and mode are introduced through a case of indoor air environment, which is a core curriculum for postgraduate students of HVAC program. The innovations include teaching content reconstruction based on online-offline mixed teaching mode, interaction design based on an intelligent teaching platform, and online-offline mixed-mode teaching design based on flipped classrooms. The ideological and political elements are deeply researched based on network resources for COVID-19, and are integrated into in a CFD simulation teaching case to reshape the teaching contents. Flipped classrooms are adopted in the process management for curriculum paper to realize mixed-mode teaching and improve students' learning achievement. A good teaching effect has been achieved after a semester of teaching practice.

    After more than ten years of exploration, a dual return path of "extracurricular-in-class-extracurricular" and "all-staff-top-notch-all-staff" for application-oriented undergraduates' practice and innovation ability training has been explored. This route could lead from point to area, from the old to the new, and lead the excellent students to drive ordinary students in cultivate innovation ability, and it is to improve students' initiative and participation in innovative practice. The construction of this path starts from top-level design, to scientifically build an innovative talent training system that combines in-class teaching and extracurricular practice. At the same time, a reasonable and effective innovation platform for students that integrates competition and education should be built to ensure that the training of innovative ability extends from in-class to extracurricular. Finally, the selection mechanism should be optimized to cultivate students' practical innovation ability by classification, and the main status of students in innovative practice should be established, to ensure the training effect. This method is implemented in School of Civil Engineering & Architecture in Taizhou University. The effectiveness of the dual return path in cultivating innovation ability is reflected in students' awards in competitions, quality and quantity of innovation results, employment rate, employer satisfaction feedback, and graduate satisfaction surveys.

    Based on the background of emerging engineering construction, this paper proposes that the graduation design of urban and rural planning major in local universities should embody the curriculum goal of "four in one" comprehensive creative ability. Then, the model of "multi-subject collaborative education" is applied to the "7+1" joint graduation design teaching practice of the national urban and rural planning major, and the implementation measures of graduation design teaching reform are elaborated from the aspects of inter-school collaboration, intra-school collaboration, school administration and enterprise community.     Abstract:
    Building equipment involves three majors:building water supply and drainage, HVAC and building electricity. Its teaching includes theoretical knowledge, construction drawings and equipment installation. Under the talent training goal of broad caliber, deep foundation and emphasizing practice, the teaching of building equipment has gradually changed from pure theory teaching to the combination of theory and practice. In the teaching mode of question-construction drawing-engineering training, problem-based teaching method is used to strengthen theoretical knowledge learning and emphasize the connection with construction drawing in theoretical teaching, students' practical application ability is improved and theoretical knowledge is consolidated through systematic construction drawing teaching, and students' understanding of equipment installation is enhanced through on-site training or simulated training. The teaching mode focuses on how to better integrate theory with practice and deal with the relationship between theory and practice in teaching. Compared with the course evaluation of pure theory teaching, students' recognition of the course is improved, and the course assessment results show an upward trend. Students change from paying attention to the teaching method to paying attention to the course content. It reflects that this teaching mode can improve the course teaching quality.

    Under the background of emerging engineering education, the construction of civil engineering specialty needs to combine the characteristics of professional talent training and build an application-oriented talent training practice system. According to the needs of ability training and career development of civil engineering undergraduates, combined with the project system integrated design of practical teaching links at the professional level in class and the targeted development of scientific and technological innovation activities off class, a definite directive training system of "creativity & innovation +" professional practical ability is formed to achieve the goal of cultivating professional talents with comprehensive practical ability. The recent three years practice results show that, through the training of innovative ability training platform and professional practice teaching links, undergraduates of civil engineering have achieved the graduation requirements and talent training objectives and have stronger employment competitiveness and social service ability.

    Abstract:
    Wood structure design software is a professional core and characteristic course for the wood structure construction major of Nanjing Forestry University. It is an important design tool for wood structure professionals to engage in professional work and related to the cultivation of comprehensive quality of wood structure professionals. The teaching content involves a lot of international wood structure knowledge. However, the class hour of this course is quite limited which makes it difficult to teach. In order to accommodate the characteristics and difficulties of the course, a series of innovative models are proposed in terms of teaching content, teaching methods, course evaluation and practical activities to cultivate the students' comprehensive ability. Teaching is based on classroom lectures, supplemented by online question and ask of software professional training engineers, and academic reports of foreign experts. Students are organized to complete complex model design together with students of the same major from foreign universities, use the software knowledge they have learned to participate in wood structure model design competition, and participate in the practice of digital design and processing of wood structures. Teaching practice shows that the teaching mode of wood structure design software has achieved good results and the students' comprehensive ability has been significantly improved which laid a solid foundation for work and study in the future.

    Abstract:
    Due to the large-scale and large destructive nature of tailings pond dam break, it is difficult to carry out physical model experiment in practical teaching. As an innovative teaching method, experimental teaching based on virtual simulation has been well applied in many fields of teaching and has achieved good results. Based on the virtual simulation system of the tailings dam break laboratory at Nanchang University, this paper proposes a virtual-simulation-based experiment teaching plan of "one platform, two orientations, three levels and four modules". The specific program and its characteristics of virtual simulation experiment teaching on tailings dam break are introduced. Two main problems in the experimental teaching based on virtual simulation are summarized and corresponding solution countermeasures are put forward.

    Abstract:
    Aiming at the problem that engineering teachers in universities attach importance to professional training, emphasize the acquirement of knowledge and skills, while neglect the educational work, the course basic theory of reinforced concrete structure in civil engineering is taken as an example to conduct analysis. On the basis of analysis for the content and characteristics of this course, the principles and methods for ideological and political education are proposed. The construction of ideological and political education resources is introduced. The purposes and implementation program of curriculum-based ideological and political education are summarized.

    Abstract:
    Under the concept of full-staff education, full-process education, and all-round education, vigorously promoting the research of curriculum-based ideological and political education is the trend and direction of professional curriculum teaching reform. This article combines the civil engineering construction courses of civil engineering majors, takes curriculum-based ideological and political education as the guidance, professional teaching content as the carrier, and uses case teaching, character story teaching, role-playing teaching and other teaching methods to fully excavate the ideological and political elements of the course and explore curriculum-based ideological and political education teaching organization process and implementation way. The ideological and political content of cultivating normative consciousness, engineering thinking, professional accomplishment and home countries feelings will be evaluated in the course of process evaluation with modules such as normative interpretation, thematic papers, and coursework. The reform has achieved certain results.
