    Abstract:
    In view of the new cultivation mode of civil engineering and hydraulic engineering, the soil mechanics course group of Tsinghua University has constructed the teaching system of soil mechanics and advanced soil mechanics based on blended teaching, and designed and produced a variety of teaching plans based on blended teaching and rain classroom in different classroom modes. Emphasis will be placed on blended teaching mode and practice based on MOOC/SPOC and rain classroom. Compared with the traditional teaching method, the blended teaching method increases the time for preview, but greatly reduces the time for reviewing and doing homework after class, so the total learning time will not increase. Because it greatly increases the time of discussion and helps students to understand the key points in depth, the above steps, if strictly followed, can significantly improve the learning effects. The experience gained from blended teaching methods also played a big role in the remote teaching process during the epidemic.

    Abstract:
    The codes for design of geotechnical engineering in China are different from other countries and regions in the world at present. Hence, the geotechnical engineering consulting companies in China are hard to participate in the project bids for its businesses outside of China. In order to improve the situation, the systematic engineering design research and the professional training are the key issues during this period. Therefore, the allowable stress design concept in geotechnical engineering such as safety factor, soil bearing capacity, and slope stability analysis are discussed in this paper. Moreover, the defects of design codes in China are also presented. Finally, the suggestions of design codes and professional training are recommended to promote the development of geotechnical engineering in China.

    Abstract:
    Soil mechanics course has the characteristics of basic, epochal character and practicalness as a required course for geotechnical engineering. At present, the increasing demand and number of graduate students put forward higher requirements for theory and professionalism of soil mechanics. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out teaching exploration to expand the depth and breadth on the basis of the existing course content. Based on the teaching experience in soil mechanics, "shear strength of soil" in soil mechanics and "constitutive relation of soil" in advanced soil mechanics were connected. Focusing on introducing the critical state of soil, key points related to triaxial tests and soil properties were necessarily supplemented. The critical state analysis of sand soil was provided as an example, and the research on "microbial reinforced calcareous sand" was given as an aid. This paper introduced how to expand the study points of soil mechanics and how to introduce the subject frontiers. This helps the students understand and consolidate the basic theoretical knowledge, stimulate and cultivate students’ interest and ability in independent learning, and create good basic conditions for further study.

    Abstract:
    With the deep integration of information technology and modern education, MOOC and other online education resources are developing rapidly. How to integrate offline education with online resources has become an important issue facing the current teaching reform. Soil mechanics is an important core course for civil engineering related majors, which has the characteristics of high theoretical requirements and strong practicality. With the limitation of class hours, it is difficult for students to achieve the requirements of deep understanding and application of this course knowledge only relying on classroom teaching. In view of the new challenges faced by the traditional teaching mode, based on the construction of online resources such as MOOC, the exploration and practice of online and offline mixed teaching reform are carried out. The problems such as the lack of traditional class hours, the low participation of students and the single assessment method are well solved, and good teaching effect is achieved.

    Abstract:
    Under the background of emerging engineering education, the ideological and political education of soil mechanics played a very important role in enriching the teaching contents, improving the overall development of students and promoting the growth of young teachers. According to the characteristics of the ideological and political teaching of soil mechanics course, this paper analyzed the ideological and political elements in each chapter, and mainly discussed the teaching practice of soil mechanics from the aspects of curriculum outline, content setting, teaching methods.     In order to improve the teaching quality of soil mechanics course and the talent training quality of civil engineering specialty, some explorations and practices on the classroom and experimental teaching reform of soil mechanics were carried out. The main classroom teaching reforms are as follows:The explorations of teaching method and mode of research-based learning, case-based learning, and team-based learning combined with problem-based learning were carried out, and the intelligent teaching tools such as rain classroom were used to arouse students’ learning interest and improve the quality of classroom teaching; In order to frequently update contents of the course, it is necessary to continually improve our professional ability by extensively reading the textbooks and related books of soil mechanics; The available online course resources were fully utilized, and online and offline mixed teaching reform and flipped classroom teaching reform based on internet+ were actively promoted; The ideological and political elements were effectively integrated into the teaching of soil mechanics by introducing distinguished domestic and foreign persons in the field of soil mechanics and famous engineering cases of soil mechanics, and enhancing the knowledge and principle of soil mechanics as general philosophical principles.     Abstract:
    With the rapid construction and development of underground space engineering in higher education in China, special strategic requirements are put forward for the training of urban underground space engineering talents. There are some deficiencies in the content and methods of the traditional soil mechanics teaching, which cannot fully meet the higher requirements of the characteristics of urban underground space engineering specialty and practical engineering applications. Therefore, based on the characteristics and development prospect of urban underground space engineering, the main problems of soil mechanics teaching are analyzed in this present paper firstly. Then, the teaching content, teaching methods, curriculum ideological and political aspects of the teaching of soil mechanics are explored and analyzed. Accordingly, a more adaptable curriculum teaching system is proposed, and specific suggestions are put forward to improve the teaching quality.

    Abstract:
    Geotechnical courses are highly practical. Based on the actual slope treatment engineering and from the perspective of students, 11 experimental tasks are designed. The mouse key operation method commonly used in game software is adopted to conduct interactive independent comprehensive experimental learning under the guidance and prompts of the field simulation system. By selecting a different position and angle to observe and identify site stability, surface and subsurface characteristics of the slope (landslip), according to the characteristics of surface deformation to infer the main direction of sliding, independently designing section line and the survey borehole, drawing borehole histogram, section, and calculating the apparent dip, calculating slope stability and remaining sliding force under various working conditions, simulating and analyzing the arrangement of anti-slide piles and drainage ditch, to enhance students’ cognition and understanding of slope engineering investigation, stability analysis and design process. After the introduction of engineering geology, soil mechanics, slope engineering and other courses in experimental project, the vivid and realistic scenes and shocking effects have attracted and stimulated students’ interest in learning. At the same time, the teaching activity correlation and course interconnection of geotechnical series courses have been realized, and the combination of theoretical teaching and practice has been strengthened.

    Abstract:
    Professional courses are the basic carrier of curriculum ideological and political education. How to deeply excavate the elements of ideological and political education in curriculum and how to integrate them into the teaching of professional courses is a fundamental problem to comprehensively promote that in universities. This paper takes teaching practice of "curriculum ideological and political education" in soil mechanics provincial demonstration course as an example. The perfect combination of the professional course teaching and the curriculum ideological and political education is discussed, from the aspects of overall design of the construction and the realization of methods and means, construction mode, instructional design and effect, to realize the three-in-one educational objectives of knowledge conversion, ability development and value shaping.

    Abstract:
    With the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, there is an urgent need to cultivate international talents in civil engineering specialty. English course of soil mechanics can help the students improve English communication level, master the ability to understand the international cutting-edge developments. This paper discusses the curriculum characteristics and current situation, based on the construction and practice of English course of soil mechanics of China University of Mining and Technology. With the current training scheme, teaching resources and assessment mode, the attainment of course objectives is analyzed through the questionnaire survey, attendance, "rain class" in-class test, and course scores. The teaching team summarized the existing problems based on the evaluation results and student feedback, and proposed corresponding suggestions for continuous improvement. We aim to perfect the training plan and evaluation system, explore online - offline mixed teaching, and promote the construction of curriculum ideology and politics education, which can effectively raise the quality of education and meet the needs of national strategy of innovative professional talents.

    Abstract:
    In accordance with the requirements of the National First-class undergraduate course of innovation, high order and challenge, the course of foundation engineering in Beihang University highlights the characteristics of airport runway geotechnical engineering. Three ideological and political education cases such as construction responsibility, environmental protection have been made. The course combines theoretical knowledge with engineering practice, engineering cases such as Beijing Daxing International Airport and BIM application have been made, and the video of special course of mountain airport construction has been recorded. Two innovative experiments of the pile foundation design and the nondestructive testing of the pavement have been set up to improve students’ cognitive limit and hands-on limit. The learning groups and multi-dimensional evaluation mode has been adopted to meet the learning requirements of different difficulty levels and cultivate high-end interdisciplinary talents for airport construction and management.

    The new youth in the new era needs to be cultivated from multiple perspectives including morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor. The teaching mode of engineering major courses including soil mechanics focuses on cultivating talents, which ignores the morality training; it is difficult to meet the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s speech at the national conference on college ideological and political education work. Taking the course of soil mechanics as an example, this paper discusses the basic concept of the course and the necessity of construction the curriculum ideological and political education. The curriculum ideological and political reform is carried out from the following two aspects:First of all, we explore the ideological and political elements and general philosophies according to the course theories, including basic nature of soil, soil seepage issue, calculation and analysis of soil stress, soil shear strength and slope stability analysis. Secondly, we apply the theoretical knowledge to specific engineering cases and achieve inspirational ideological and political education from engineering practice. The soil mechanics teaching method based on curriculum ideological and political education proposed in this paper is expected to provide ideas for constructing the ideological and political teaching mode of the soil mechanics teaching system in the new era, thus to generate better ideological and political education effects.

According to the bilingual teaching practice of soil mechanics, smart classroom mode is proposed to improve teaching by learning.     Soil mechanics experiment is a basic course of civil engineering specialty, and soil mechanics experiment teaching is an important part of practical teaching in universities and colleges. Based on the concept of emerging engineering education, this paper analyzes the problems existing in the current soil mechanics practice teaching, puts forward reform measures. With students-oriented teaching, takes the cultivation of students’ comprehensive ability as purpose in order to cultivate students’ practical ability, improve students’ interest in experiment. Through the network experimental platform, we can provide students with preview before class, simulation operation and practical engineering data, so that students can really enter the experimental teaching.     In the post epidemic era, blended teaching has become the mainstream of teaching research and practice. Based on the reflection and analysis of the current blended teaching, the blended teaching practice of soil mechanics and engineering geology was carried out under the guidance of constructivism learning theory.     Abstract:
    Based on temperature controlled triaxial equipment, temperature controlled interface instrument was developed. It can be used to measure the interface characteristics of structure and soil in the three-axis stress state, and provides technical support for revealing the mechanism of structural-soil interaction. Based on CDIO engineering education concept, the scientific research achievements of the temperature-controlled interface instrument are transformed into practical teaching project. The undergraduates participated in the whole-life development, testing and testing process of this innovation instrument. The innovative path and innovative methods of high-quality scientific research results can be learned during these processes. The whole processes of Conceive, Design, Implementation, and Operation can also be learned through this project. The students not only learnt the knowledge but also mastered scientific thinking.     China’s infrastructure construction has been evolved into the new era, which puts forward higher requirements for the traditional teaching and the practical application ability of college graduates. The matching degree of teaching cases and specialty is not satisfactory in urban underground space engineering specialty, and it is dramatically inconsistent with students’ experiences and society actual under the standard of innovation, high order and challenge, this is unsuitable for cultivating students’ ability and quality. Based on urban underground space engineering, the paper explores the specific teaching case from a practical engineering.     Triaxial test is an important test to study the mechanical properties of soil, and it plays a key role in soil mechanics test. However, it is difficult for beginners to master the basic testing skills in a short time due to the difficulty of sample preparation, complex operation process and long test cycle of triaxial test. Therefore, it is particularly important to develop and use triaxial virtual simulation test to carry out teaching work. The developed triaxial virtual simulation experiment includes two parts:virtual experiment operation and electronic report. Students can be familiar with the structure and operation process of triaxial experiment instrument on the mobile terminal, extend the time and space of experiment teaching, improve the quality and level of experiment teaching and stimulate students’ learning enthusiasm under the premise of low cost, low consumption and no potential safety hazard. In order to obtain more real soil mechanical properties and parameters through virtual triaxial test simulation, the big data prediction function of mechanics and constitutive parameters of sand is integrated into the triaxial virtual simulation test. Students are familiar with the test operation process, and can deeply understand the correlation between mechanical properties and physical properties of soil, so the two courses of soil mechanics for undergraduates and geotechnical engineering test for postgraduates, and good teaching effect is achieved.

The reform plan for experimental teaching of soil mechanics is elaborated in detail:the construction of a "five-in-one" soil mechanics experimental curriculum system, relying on MOOC, experimental space, PFC and other information teaching methods to create online and offline dual-channel, multi-dimensional learning space, develop design and innovative experimental projects, formulate "quantity" and "efficiency" parallel assessment mechanism, fully stimulate students’ learning interest, tap scientific research potential, improve engineering ability, and significantly improve teaching satisfaction. In this way, the process of building a national first-class curriculum of soil mechanics in Southwest University will be promoted, and it will provide reference for the reform and innovation of the teaching of soil mechanics experimental.

    Abstract:
    The new round of scientific and industrial revolution challenges the reform and development of engineering education. Emerging engineering education is just a positive response to the challenges and requirements. The key point of emerging engineering education in civil engineering is to cultivate the engineering innovation ability of college students in practical education. In view of the prevailing practice of emphasizing theory and neglecting practice, and the current situation of not paying attention to cultivating innovation ability, the practical teaching reform of soil mechanics course is carried out. The "Three Classrooms" cooperative education system and the specific construction content of the first class, the second class and extracurricular practice are constructed. The key problems of practical teaching system are summarized, the safeguard measures, experience and effects of teaching reform are introduced.

    Abstract:
    With the continuous promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative and the introduction of various favorable policies on studying abroad, the number of students studying in China from countries along the Belt and Road has increased year by year. Civil engineering, as an important basic discipline to support the national economic development and guarantee the social livelihood, is becoming the choice of more and more students. However, at the present stage, the education level of overseas students in China is far from meeting the development needs of the international student industry. The source and structure of international students need to be optimized, the English level and teaching ability of teachers still need to be improved. Taking the importance basic course soil mechanics as an example, based on teaching practice, clarified the present problems of soil mechanics teaching of English, put forward the teaching reform method and class scheme, matching the students’ personality traits and learning habits .The feasibility of practicing ideological and political education in international students is explored. The relevant results and discussions can provide reference for the construction of English soil mechanics courses for international students.
