Abstract:Course learning is a necessary link to ensure the cultivating quality of postgraduate, and plays a comprehensive and fundamental role in the growth of postgraduate. This paper aims at the problems which are common in the teaching of postgraduate professional courses, such as homogeneity with undergraduate courses, duplication of some content with undergraduate course content, scattered introduction of frontier theory or technologies related to courses, single teaching mode, insufficient exercise of students’innovative thinking ability, and deficient system design of curriculum ideological and political education. Taking the graduate core specialized course of civil engineering advanced theory of concrete structures as an example, the main problems in course content setting and teaching mode are analyzed in detail, and the teaching mode reform goals are determined around three aspects: teaching content, teaching methods and curriculum ideological and political education. The principle of course content construction is proposed based on the dual attributes of education and research, and the course content is reconstructed with three parts: pre-class self-study content, instructor lecture content and supplementary content, which defines the key and difficult contents of classroom teaching. At the same time, the entry point and goal of curriculum ideological and political education are put forward, and the teaching hours of each part is suggested. To train and improve students’ability to propose, analyze and solve problems, the student lecture + concentrated discussion + teacher guidance mode, subject inquiry teaching mode, deep integration inside and outside the classroom teaching mode, and the curriculum ideological and political education method with academic feelings and scientific research spirit as the core are put forward, and the variety of teaching modes are formed, and corresponding example or method are given. Finally, a three-in-one curriculum teaching mode of theoretical knowledge-scientific research ability-value pursuit is formed, which can be used as reference for related professional courses of similar engineering graduate students.

Abstract:Under the traditional teaching mode of architectural education, it is difficult to truly experience the real state of ancient space. Traditional teaching mainly depends on blackboard writing and digital media. The cognitive subject is always outside the media, and the information received by students is relatively indirect. Virtual simulation technology takes existing objects as the skeleton to virtualize the original appearance, changes and deficiencies of ancient architectural pattern. The combination of virtual experiment and traditional curriculum can achieve the combination of virtual and real in teaching, and attain the real communication between ancient and modern. Taking the exploratory practice of virtual simulation experiment in the teaching of brief history of Chinese architecture as an example, this paper expounds the important value of virtual simulation technology in the curriculum of architectural history, evaluates its advantages over traditional education methods, and reflects on some problems when using virtual simulation technology in the current curriculum.

Abstract:The course of built environment occupies an important position in the training program of built environment and energy application engineering. The course of built environment at Dalian University of Technology takes the teaching reform as a breakthrough point, shifting from “teaching centered” to “learning for practical use”. By summarizing the situation of students’independent topic selection, research object types, corresponding research methods, and allocation and updating of experimental instruments in the past 20 years, and evaluating the improvement of students’comprehensive abilities in analyzing and solving problems using the knowledge they have learned, it is found that with the improvement of experimental instrument testing parameters and recording functions, the scope of independent experimental research topics gradually expands. More than 50% of students choose to explore the comprehensive environmental change characteristics of buildings with different functional uses, and provide analysis for reasons. 100% of students use non-single research methods to conduct independent research. This research process helps students deeply learn the mechanisms, objectives, and methods of indoor and outdoor environmental regulation, and cultivates their ability to engage in engineering and social practice activities with correct values. Therefore, in the teaching process, it is necessary to deeply explore the course content, break through habitual cognitive patterns, optimize the classroom teaching design of each chapter, enhance the challenge of independent practice and research process assessment, promote the deep integration of modern information technology and teaching process, strengthen the ideological and political construction of the curriculum, adhere to the organic integration of knowledge, ability, and professional literacy, and make students qualified talents with independent thinking ability, innovative cooperation spirit, and social responsibility.

Abstract:As an important professional foundation course of most engineering majors, mechanics of material aims to train students to master solid basic mechanics knowledge, and have practical ability to integrate basic mechanics knowledge with engineering problems. At the present stage, a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation is flourishing. Higher requirements are put forward for high quality creative talents with solid mechanics knowledge. However, some problems are still common, such as unattractive traditional classroom teaching, lack of interest in learning, and lack of ability to analyze and solve problems. Therefore, it gets great significance to carry out teaching reform and exploration of mechanics of material. Under the background of curriculum system reform which is aiming at engineering education certification and concept of OBE, the knowledge module of mechanics of material is regrouped, and practical problems and engineering cases are introduced into the teaching process. The new teaching mode is explored. A variety of teaching methods are used, and the students’interest in learning have been increased. Students gradually become the main body of learning, and the purpose of cultivating innovative talents with creative consciousness and practical ability can be achieved.

    • Current situation and countermeasures of work pressure of graduate tutors in colleges and universities under the new situation

      2024, 33(5):162-172. DOI: 10.11835/j.issn.1005-2909.2024.05.021 CSTR:

Abstract:Graduate tutors are an important group to cultivate high-quality innovative talents. With the rapid development of higher education, the work pressure faced by graduate tutors is increasing, which is not conducive to the physical and mental health of graduate tutors and the quality of postgraduate training. To comprehensively grasp the work pressure situation of graduate tutors in colleges and universities under the new situation, effectively alleviate the work pressure of graduate tutors, and avoid job burnout, the measurement scale of graduate tutors’work pressure is developed on the basis of literature research from five dimensions: teaching pressure, scientific research pressure, guidance pressure, role pressure and system pressure, and a survey questionnaire is developed. The reliability and validity of the measurement scale are tested based on 421 sample data. Overall level analysis, single factor analysis and regression analysis are carried out on the current situation of work pressure of graduate tutors. Results show that the developed measurement scale has good reliability and validity; the overall work pressure level of graduate tutors in colleges and universities under the new situation is between moderate pressure and large pressure; the pressure levels of the five pressure sources from high to low are system pressure, scientific research pressure, guidance pressure, teaching pressure and role pressure; there are some differences in the work pressure of graduate tutors in different dimensions for different gender, age stage, identity, title, working years, subject field and university type. On this basis, the countermeasures and suggestions to alleviate the work pressure of graduate tutors are put forward from three aspects: establishing an effective mechanism to alleviate the graduate tutors’work pressure, improving graduate tutors’ability to cope with work pressure, and paying attention to the work pressure of key graduate tutors groups.

    • Study and exploration on curriculum ideological and political education in civil engineering major: taking the soil mechanics course as an example

      2024, 33(5):173-185. DOI: 10.11835/j.issn.1005-2909.2024.05.022 CSTR:

Abstract:Professional courses are the basic carrier of curriculum ideological and political construction. Taking the soil mechanics course of civil engineering as an example, we conduct two teaching experiments on more than 600 undergraduates in two grades, design special teaching plans, conduct a questionnaire survey and an open-ended assignment analysis of students after class. Results show that the second experiment is more successful than the first one. It is necessary to integrate certain ideological and political content in professional courses, but more attention should be paid to the ways and methods of integration. In order to make students gain more in ideological and political contents, teachers are a very important factor. Good teaching effect is not a sufficient condition for good curriculum ideological and political effect, but there is a positive correlation between them. The design of cases should be more in line with the connotation of ideological and political elements. Finally, relevant suggestions from the four dimensions of curriculum, teachers, students and environment are put forward.

Abstract:History of the Party, history of the new China, history of the reform and opening-up, and history of socialist development are important parts of curriculum ideological and political education, which play a crucial role in ensuring that education fulfills its fundamental mission of fostering virtue across universities. This study aims to explore methods for integrating the four histories education into architectural curriculum, creating a pathway for value construction, theoretical instruction, and competency development. Incorporating the four histories education into architectural curriculum requires careful consideration of top-level design, starting from the subject knowledge system and professional requirements to clarify the main line and goals of the four histories education. Then a teaching team should be built to break down professional barriers in order to promote cross-disciplinary complementarity across different majors. Their goal is to delve into the rich connotation and denotation of the curriculum. The foundation of national rejuvenation through arduous struggle, the future-oriented steadfast implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the centenary of Red culture as a forge for the spirit, and the power of reform and opening up as a catalyst for development are the four major educational themes that have been identified. A batch of typical and localized four histories education cases from different perspectives are selected, and training bases are jointly built combining with local resources to build the second classroom for four histories education. Finally, flipped classrooms, practical teaching, topic-oriented teaching are used to foster deeper student development and increase student involvement. By a multi-pronged approach, the collaboration across disciplines, and the active participation of numerous stakeholders, a professional based curriculum ideological and political system will be established, to achieve the goal of adding political and ideological component to the education by the four histories and integrating it reciprocally into the architectural curriculum, so as to implement the fundamental task of encouraging students to grow in virtue and character.

    • Exploring how to integrate ideological and political education in engineering courses from the perspective of goal attainment: practice based on Jonathan’s model of constructive learning environment

      2024, 33(5):195-203. DOI: 10.11835/j.issn.1005-2909.2024.05.024 CSTR:

Abstract:The existing engineering education system lacks education on the value rationality of science and technology, and there is a disconnection between engineering education and value objectives in the mindset and actions of university teachers. The curriculum ideological and political education proposal has provided a concrete content paradigm for achieving ethical engineering objectives. Still, the professional certification of engineering education in China has not incorporated the content of national characteristics and culture. Based on constructivist learning theory, Jonathan’s constructive learning environment model is adopted to deconstruct the content of curriculum ideological and political education in the Guidance Outline for the Construction of Courses for Ideological and Political Education in Higher Education Institutions. Curriculum ideological and political education goals are integrated into the graduation goals of engineering education accreditation standards and dismantled into curriculum training goals layer by layer from the perspective of goal attainment. An output-oriented implementation path is constructed. Two different types of professional courses in civil engineering, namely traffic engineering and road and bridge detection technology, are taken as examples for the case study. The feasibility of the method is verified to provide a reference for the implementation of ideological and political education.
