Abstract:The undergraduate talent training plan is a guiding document for professional construction. It is an educational contract between majors and college students. In addition to regular evaluation of the rationality of training programs, professional certification also puts forward various specific requirements. There are many constraints in the preparation of civil engineering professional training plans, which require meeting various requirements such as national standards, certification standards, professional norms, etc. with students as the center, balancing and handling various issues, and reasonably integrating various educational ideas such as integrated general education and interdisciplinary education. The research, analysis, formulation, management and implementation of the training program are all very important education links. The composition of the preparation team, the training program review process, the modification process, the publicity method and the rationality evaluation should have strict mechanisms to ensure that they meet the requirements of professional certification. The training program is also the carrier of new talent training model. The training program of civil engineering specialty of Chongqing University has experienced the development process from pilot optimization of experimental classes to comprehensive promotion. In the process of the reform of major enrollment, the preparation of major training plans may involve coordination between different majors or even different colleges and face more challenges.

Abstract:The emphasis of building thermal engineering on the passive construction of built environment is in line with China’s dual-carbon policy. It also fits the background of constructing emerging engineering and double first-class colleges and universities. Consequently, building thermal engineering has been attracting an increasing number of interdisciplinary students for graduate education. Setting appropriate transitionary topics can help large-span interdisciplinary students to quickly enter the field of building thermal engineering and achieve interdisciplinary integration. This paper firstly analyses the necessity and significance of transitional topics, then discusses the key points of transitionary topics in the process of large-span interdisciplinary postgraduate training in terms of topic selection criteria, principles and methods, as well as evaluation and adjustment during the process. Finally it uses two typical cases to provide a detailed analysis of the idea of transition topics and their training effectiveness. Transition topics are not only a common challenge for supervisors and students, but also useful to promote cross-disciplinary integration, which should be customized according to the specific situation of students and the research direction of supervisors and groups. The results of this paper can effectively promote the cultivation of large-span interdisciplinary students in building thermal engineering, and at the same time provide reference for other disciplines.

Abstract:As an important part of professional comprehensive teaching, the graduation design of civil engineering major has a positive impact on improving college students’ professional comprehensive ability, engineering awareness, engineering design ability, innovation ability and teamwork spirit. It has long been one of the key points of teaching reform in colleges and universities. In view of the Overall Plan for Promoting the Construction of World-class Universities and Disciplines put forward in 2015, and based on the general background of the construction of first-class disciplines, given that civil engineering graduation design topics are outdated, the content is single, the design and expression lags behind the development of the times, the process management is unscientific, the students pay insufficient attention, the instructors lack engineering experience, and the software teaching is underdeveloped, School of Civil Engineering of Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology has successively carried out several teaching seminars on graduation design, and systematically formulated the teaching reform plan. Field research in Tongji University, Nanjing Tech University, Southeast University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Technology and other schools with strong strength in the field of civil engineering in China from 2019 to 2020 was conducted to learn the teaching concept and advanced experience in graduation design of civil engineering in an all-round, multi-level and multi-dimensional way. Multi-dimensional teaching reform measures were put forward involving the whole process of the graduation design in many aspects, such as topic selection, process management, student ability, teacher level, teaching effect, and the overall process of graduation design after the teaching reform was summarized. After nearly three years’ practice, satisfactory teaching reform results have been achieved.

Abstract:With the development of society and the changing of students’ conditions, the teaching of structural mechanics is faced with unprecedented challenges. Aiming at the teaching problems of paying more attention to conformity than difference and paying more attention to independence than collaboration, a “wake-up” teaching idea is proposed. Based on the course characteristics of originating from engineering and feeding back to engineering of structural mechanics, the “wake-up” teaching idea takes engineering cases as the core, and takes the four steps of exciting-enlightening-extending-exploring as the principal line. Based on the teaching idea, a new educational mode of multi-elements collaborative differentiated teaching is explored, in which differentiation of students is precisely analyzed before class, diversified and high-quality teaching resources are constructed, online and offline multi-dimensional classrooms are integrated in an organized way, and a variety of in-class and out-class practice platforms are deeply expanded. The teaching practice shows that the teaching reform can not only wake up learning interest, participation consciousness, inner drive, and professional emotion, but also integrate mechanical theory, engineering practice, frontier of scientific research, and ideological and political education effectively, so the cultivation quality of civil engineering talents can be effectively guaranteed. It provides experience and reference for the teaching quality improvement of structural mechanics and the construction of new forms of classroom.

Abstract:Computation of bridge structures is an important specialized course for senior students majoring in bridge engineering, which is of great significance to the cultivation of students’ ability to solve complex engineering problems. Understanding boundary conditions has always been a key and difficult point in teaching. In order to help students to understand boundary conditions quickly, a teaching exploration integrating with structural mechanics is carried out based on the eighty five percent rule for optimal learning. Four groups of questions are set up based on the construction drawing of an actual continuous beam bridge. The boundary conditions are combined with the known knowledge of kinematic analysis and rods, leading to four gradually deepened levels of understanding about boundary conditions. These explorations enable students to dialectically understand the classification of boundary conditions, the relationship between imposing (removing) constraints and rods, the relationship between boundary conditions and geometric models, and the meshing of the finite element model. Using the idea that not only all boundaries are connections, but also all nodes (sections) are connections, the supports and all kinds of connections in MIDAS/Civil are represented by chain bars. The relationship between six degrees of freedom constraint directions and six chain bars is given, laying a foundation for students’ subsequent software operation. The teaching practice in the past five years shows that the problem-oriented teaching method of computation of bridge structures based on the eighty five percent rule has a good effect, and students rarely make mistakes in confusing different types of boundary conditions in the subsequent computer modeling.

Abstract:With the reform of the introduction of a series of policies on territorial space planning, urban and rural planning is facing great knowledge renewal. The principle of urban and rural planning, as a core course of urban and rural planning with wide knowledge coverage and close combination with policies, is also facing great reform challenges. Based on the perspective of land space planning, this paper starts from the background of updating the knowledge system of urban and rural planning, takes the course of principles of urban and rural planning as the research object, and tries to explore new teaching logic methods by introducing the essence of the changes of the knowledge system and the connotation of the transformation of teaching logic. This paper focuses on the changes of research content logic, the changes of knowledge output and application logic, and the changes of practice logic. In the aspect of research content logic, it is necessary to guide the transformation of values and enhance the learning of object knowledge. In the aspect of knowledge output and application logic, we should strengthen the study of classical knowledge and build a new knowledge framework. In terms of practical logic, we should strengthen the development of practical lessons and improve teachers’ practical ability. Taking a university in Sichuan Province as an example, the teaching practice results under the new teaching logic are briefly explained. It is hoped that the above viewpoints can provide references for the teaching practice of urban and rural planning and other related disciplines, and provide a boost for the scientific development of human settlements environment in the new era.

Abstract:Multiplication of knowledge medium has brought the change of cognitive style, and traditional teaching mode based on experience has been challenged by digitalization and information technology revolution. Facing the reality, the teaching of architecture must take use of the characters and advantages of different mediums, and adjust the teaching methods accordingly. Architectural design teaching should follow the cognitive law of perception–reflection–behavior, guide the students to get sensory experience, establish emotional connection, use multiple mediums, get through information barriers, and form embodied cognition, so as to realize the continuity and max efficiency of the process of perception, cognition and expression. Based on this, the author takes the architectural bachelor’s fourth grade urban design workshop as an example, specifies the roles and tasks of teachers and students in the teaching–learning procedure from teaching target and strategy, refines the teaching plan to promote and integrate experience, comprehension, and practice. By setting specific work goals, students are guided to choose the most suitable viewpoint and tools in different stages, combining experience and book knowledge with information media and internet data, promoting the design process into a circular working process with cognition–practice–recognition–re-practice. Students can accomplish the workshop more openly and multiply, build personalized knowledge framework, find suitable design methods, and finally improve their comprehensive design ability.

Abstract:With the increase of demand for applied talents, colleges and universities are required to pay more attention to the cultivation of students’ practical and innovative abilities. Traditional classroom teaching and simple standardized experimental operation methods not only cannot arouse students’ interest in learning but also can hardly cultivate students’ practical ability and stimulate students’ innovative consciousness because of low immersion in the cognitive process, too abstract theoretical knowledge, too boring learning and practice process and other problems. Therefore, it cannot meet the requirements of talent training for the construction of new engineering and the construction needs of education modernization. As an emerging modern information product, virtual reality (VR) technology can not only provide users with a three-dimensional virtual world, but also make people feel immersive in the sense, so as to enhance the immersion and fun of learning from visual, auditory, and physical perception. It is one of the most potential modern teaching methods in the future. When VR technology is integrated into the teaching of civil engineering materials course, the change of civil engineering materials in microstructure, mechanical properties, durability, and other aspects can be vividly presented in front of students through the first perspective of 3D animation to give students a sense of real experience via the control of time and space in the teaching and virtual experiment training process. This teaching mode not only increases the interest and immersion of the course but also plays a training effect close to the real experiment scene, enabling students to fully integrate theoretical knowledge and practical process independently in the VR experience process, to deepen their cognition of the nature of things and stimulate their innovative thinking, and further improve their practical and innovative ability.

Abstract:Curriculum-based ideological and political education is an important way to advance all-round education practice involving all staff in the whole-process in the new era. However, due to the characteristics of the knowledge attributes of engineering courses, there are difficulties in excavating elements, integrating the teaching process, and determining evaluation criteria. All those difficulties led to the unsmooth development of the ideological and political teaching of the courses. Based on how to build the ideological and political teaching framework in the whole process of a course—engineering graphics, in the paper, we show the construction methods and actual cases from the excavation of ideological and political elements to the reform of the course teaching practice, as well as the evaluation of teaching effect. The ideological and political elements can be excavated in three ways: the first is to excavate valuable ideological and political education elements from the overall development history of the course. The second is to analyze the traceability and application background of curriculum knowledge points, and find the world outlook and methodology embedded in them. The last way is to find the ideological and political education connotation in actual cases from the perspective of curriculum development and innovation. The teaching practice links focus on two core aspects: classroom teaching and teaching evaluation. The teaching methods are designed in chapters according to the characteristics of ideological and political elements. The elements are integrated into the teaching process links inside and outside the classroom. Investing more energy in the construction of supplementary materials, and putting the elements and methods of ideological and political education into them, will make up for the lack of ideological and political elements in the textbooks. The evaluation strategy based on students’ participation is adopted, and the main criteria for evaluation are whether students participate and how enthusiastic they are to participate. The difficulty of evaluation for teachers is reduced, and students’ enthusiasm is improved. The ideological and political element excavation paths and teaching practice methods proposed in the curriculum-based ideological and political education practice of engineering graphics can provide references for the ideological and political teaching of other professional courses in engineering disciplines, and offer ideas for solving the difficulties faced by professional course teachers in the process of ideological and political teaching.
