Abstract:In recent years, with the continuous growth in the number of international graduate students coming to China, international graduate education has become an important part of graduate education, which bears on the effectiveness of universities’ “double first-class” initiative. This paper probes into the characteristics and influencing factors of the interactive relationship among 354 science and engineering international graduate students in “double first-class” universities through a questionnaire based on the interpersonal circle model. It is found that the interactive relationship presents the core characteristics of leadership, and gender, continent, grade and cross-cultural adaptability have significant differences on the relationship. Graduate students have a good satisfaction with the relationship. The relationship characteristics of leadership, helpfulness/friendliness and understanding have a significant positive impact on satisfaction, while the relationship characteristics of dissatisfaction and hesitation have a significant negative impact on satisfaction. The core characteristics of the ideal mentoring relationship are support and respect. It is suggested to strengthen the concept of teacher education and implement the role of whole process education, comprehensively improve the quality and cross-cultural adaptability of international graduates, establish supervision and assessment mechanisms and interactive exchange and sharing platforms to create a harmonious interactive atmosphere.

Abstract:Aiming at the problems in talent training for the intelligent construction specialty in civil engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University, building on its nationally recognized first-class discipline of civil engineering and based on an analysis of the background, trends, and demands of intelligent construction development, proposes that the connotation of intelligent construction talents comprises three aspects: a soil-shaped knowledge structure, core competencies centered on construction as the foundation, and the concept of sustainable development. A talent cultivation objective system for intelligent construction professionals is thus established, encompassing three levels of goals and twelve types of abilities. Furthermore, practical training in talent cultivation has been carried out in the direction of intelligent construction for tunnel engineering. The practice shows that constructing an intelligent construction training system with the coordination of multiple advantageous disciplines, establishing an education mechanism integrating science-education and industry-education, and improving the interdisciplinary curriculum system are necessary ways to deepen the connotation of intelligent construction talents. Further highlighting the training objectives of artificial intelligence literacy and innovation ability, improving teachers’ innovative competence through smart empowerment, and building a new practice-oriented talent training base featured by innovation studios can effectively improve the quality of talent training while achieving the training objectives of intelligent construction professionals. The relevant results can provide references for talent training of intelligent construction specialty in colleges and universities.

Abstract:As an important supporting discipline for infrastructure construction and urban development, civil engineering is crucial to accelerating the process of national modernization and enhancing international competitiveness. However, the traditional civil engineering education mode has been difficult to meet the current social demand for high-level and interdisciplinary talents. Based on the concept of integration of science and education, this paper constructs a four-in-one training mode of research-teaching-practice-entrepreneurship for civil engineering postgraduates. Through the science-education collaboration platform, hierarchical training program and policy guarantee mechanism, problems such as disconnection of innovation education and insufficient practice platform in the traditional mode are effectively solved. Empirical data from 2019 to 2023 shows that the average annual growth rate of postgraduates’ SCI/EI papers is 25%, 76 patent applications are filed, and the transformation rate of technological achievements is 35%; the employment rate of graduates in leading enterprises reaches 88%. The research confirms that this mode provides a reproducible paradigm for talent training by connecting national strategies. In the future, it is necessary to deepen interdisciplinary integration and technological innovation to meet the intelligent and sustainable development needs of the industry.

Abstract:In the Internet+ era, digital intelligent teaching with deep online-offline integration has become an important trend in the development of new engineering education in local universities. Subgrade and pavement engineering is a major course of civil engineering (road and bridge) in Hubei Engineering University. To solve the problems of large differences in major basis and lack of learning motivation of students, full classroom teaching and insufficient student participation, and emphasizing teaching over learning, emphasizing knowledge over ability, emphasizing results over process in teaching evaluation, the course team proposes an improved BOPPPS teaching model with deep online-offline integration, and explores the application methods and effectiveness of the BOPPPS teaching model in intelligent teaching in local universities, through empirical research in online-offline blended teaching of subgrade and pavement engineering. The results show that the BOPPPS teaching model emphasizes the central position of students, pays attention to the setting and achievement of outcomes, guides students to actively participate and think, and plays an important role in the intelligent teaching reform. The intelligent teaching reform of subgrade and pavement engineering includes four aspects: the creation of MOOC + SPOC + flipped classroom intelligent teaching environment, the reconstruction of a digital teaching resource library, an intelligent teaching design based on improved BOPPPS teaching model, and the implementation of intelligent teaching evaluation on intelligent teaching platform. The SPOC platform of Xuexitong is used to run through all blended teaching links, online and offline learning data of students are collected in the whole process, which can be used for outcome-based course assessment and goal achievement evaluation. The intelligent teaching application of the BOPPPS teaching model in local universities is conducive to improving the teaching effect, changing the role of teachers, optimizing the teaching evaluation system, and improving the quality of new engineering education.

Abstract:The blended teaching method deeply integrates the advantages of MOOCs and traditional classroom education, which is a new mode of engineering talents training in universities. However, in teaching practice, problems such as insufficient student engagement and a sharp decline in course enrollment have emerged. Based on the practice of blended teaching and student questionnaire surveys, the problems and causes of the blended teaching of professional courses are deeply analyzed from the perspective of students. Students are willing to change traditional classroom teaching methods, but the conflict between the excessive time required for self-study and discussion after blended teaching courses and the large number of courses they take affects their willingness to choose blended teaching. Based on the students’ standpoint, some improvement measures are put forward, including optimizing the curriculum teaching arrangement, stimulating students’ internal drive, innovating the curriculum teaching mode, paying attention to backward students and improving teachers’ self-accomplishment.
