Journal of Chongqing University, a comprehensive academic journal (monthly) on natural science supervised by the Ministry of Education and run by Chongqing University, was initiated in 1960. It was renamed Journal of Chongqing University (Natural Science Edition) in 1993 and the original name Journal of Chongqing University was reused in 2008.

Committed to driving scientific and technological development, facilitating academic exchange, fostering technological professionals and serving socialist modernization, the journal publishes mainly the latest research achievements on mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, photoelectricity, dynamics, material, resource and environment, civil engineering and construction, computer, communications, automation, chemical engineering, etc. The editorial board is joined by prestigious experts and scholars both at home and abroad, of whom there are 19 academicians and 4 foreign experts. With an international vision, the journal highly values quality and digital publishing. The past years has seen a constant improvement on academic quality and influence of Journal of Chongqing University, and the proportion of articles supported by scientific funds has made up over 90%. As far as various academic indicators are concerned, Journal of Chongqing University ranks among the best of natural science academic journals of China.

Currently Journal of Chongqing University serves as a core journal of CSCD and has been included by A Guide to the Core Journal of China (GCJC). It is voted by RCCSE Chinese Core Academic Journal and rated as the Journal with Good Social and Economic Effects of China Journal Formation. It is the winner of Chongqing’s Top 10 Scientific Journal and ranks among the Class A journal of Chongqing. Besides, it has been included by Elsevier Scopus database, Index of Copernicus and Cambridge Scientific Abstracts. The journal is the winner of Chongqing Government Award for Publishing 2010; in 2017 it was voted the Third Session Top 100 Journal of China by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the PRC; successively it won the awards of Chinese University High Quality Scientific and Technological Journal five times between 2006 and 2014; it was the winner of Chinese University Top 100 Scientific and Technological Journal 2016, 2018 and 2020 and the winner of China’s High Quality Scientific and Technological Journal 2011 and 2014; successively it was voted China’s Academic Journal with Noticeable International Influence between 2012 and 2013; it is the first prize winner, many times, of China’s Online Excellent Journal for Scientific Papers; it won the award of Chinese University Journal with Outstanding Editing Quality; it was voted Excellent Team of Chinese University Scientific and Technological Journal, Outstanding Collective of Chongqing University Journal, Excellent Journal of Chongqing, etc. Since 2013, Journal of Chongqing University has won repeated support from Chongqing Special Publishing Fund.
